I took my car to TAO Auto for repairs, and had a bad experience. Has anyone else had experience with having their car repaired at TAO AUTO?

We recently had a clutch plus hydraulics repair and while we thought it was expensive the work was quality (so far as we can tell given very recent); additionally, we felt the people were honest and looking out for us

That is why I always go to Phil's Toy(ota) Shop up the street. Then go over and have hot dogs & onion rings at Circus.

Confidence men always act nice to people they are taking advantage of.
Everyday people are taken advantage of by people who act nice to them as they take advantage of them at the same time.
TAO Auto earned that unsatisfactory rating by the Better Business Bureau. That rating did not just happen on its own.

I have been told to be careful about Frantz Auto as well.
Thanks for the BBB info.

I've just had bad experiences with Toyotas in general. Parts and service were expensive, and some 90's engines have been known to churn oil into a butter that clogs the ports. Happened to my avalon.

When they were done, the car worked was fixed, but I feel that over-charged me, especially the labor. When I questioned the bill, all I got was attitude. Will differently go somewhere else next time.

Anybody have any recommendations for a GOOD mechanic in Cary?
TAO on Capital

I've been going to TAO in Raleigh since they were on Hillsborough St and they have always been honest with me and have done quality work on my Honda. I live in Fayetteville now and I drive to TAO on Capital Blvd to have them work on my honda. They are honest and they do high quality work the first time and the price they charge is in line with other shops. You might save 30 bucks some place else but you may not get the same quality work. My time is valuable and I am happy to pay professionals a fair price for top quality work.
And in regards to the above posters complant about TAO charging 35 dollars more for a part, Auto shops have to for delivery of parts so they usually charge a bit more. You can always buy your OEM part on the net and bring it in to have it put on if 35 bucks is worth it to you.

I had no problems with my car until after I took it to TAO Auto for scheduled maintenance to get timing belt put on. Since then, nothing but problems!! Went to them with a car running fine and left with them telling me I need a new engine. I would not recommend TAO Auto.

I have been going to TAO since 1999. They've been nothing but outstanding. My 91 CRX was cutting off randomly while driving. They could have told me ANYthing, but they charged me $20 to fix a loose wire. That's honesty there. Go to them for your Honda/Toyota needs. You won't be disappointed!

I take my Acura there and I have been impressed with the quality of service. Having air conditioning issues, and they fully warranteed the repair and then performed warranteed repair at their expense when it went on the fritz again.
Can't ask for more than that.
Also, I had a $3000 quote from AAA Auto on Atlantic based on what they said was a cracked head - the wanted to disassemble my engine (which would have ruined it). I asked Tom at TAO for a second opinion. He diagnosed it as a coil problem and repaired my car for $250.
Business earned.

I would not recommend them. I get real gruff attitude every time from the guy at the desk, who is supposedly the owner. They also took way too long to fix my car which cost me $900 in rental car costs, when it should have cost me $130 for 4 days. They sat on it for weeks until I called, and then magically they were able to find my part within 5 minutes of my call - how coincidental. On another occasion I had to take my car there 3 times for the same fix, and in the process spent $500 on a part that I didn't need to fix the problem. They won't refund that part because they said the new one works better anyway, but for a 10 year old car I will be the judge of what I'm willing to improve on the car! I have to bring my car back to refix their last work, and since they should be fixing it free I will go there, but after this... never again.(They have done some things right, but I've had enough.)

It is interesting that the above ngative comments all came from out of town!!!??? Also, the statement that TAO is rated unsatisfactory by the BBB is not accurate. The BBB gives them an A- Rating which is darn good. Sounds like competition talking to me.

My personal experience on service, price and quality have all been good to date.
