Its horrible that all of you think taking a life is a good thing.
I knew the young man well, for many years and no one on this earth is good enough to take someones life. "Good guy" or "bad guy".

So the cop should have just let the thug kill him?

One more case of good riddance to bad rubbish IMO. I love to see these people taken out.

really, all you people with opinions don't even know the whole story. I've known this boy since he was a kid and although their family might have had alot of circumstances that made these boys start on the streets, Derrick had done what he could to turn his life around. they failed to mention that an undercover cop had killed his baby brother one year to the date in an apt. complex kind of the same scenerio, according to the paper but when it was all said and done and the investigation was finished there was no gun.get the facts before you give kudos for someones death.

translation. this was a criminal family with no respect for officers of the law.
What we need to know now is are there any more dangerous criminals in this family that need to be taken care of.

There ya go...brothers biting the dust because of their antisocial, criminal behavior.

And for the enablers, please stop as it doesn't do anyone any good, not even the POS you want to protect or "save". Enabling just prolongs the inevitable. Why not think about society as a whole, your community of decent citizens?

And you criticize us for assuming the obvious.

You know its the fact that its exactly as you just put it, assuming. You people have nothing better to do than to sit around in your smug little world and assume something you know nothing about. The bottom line is you assume the papers are telling you the truth, you assume the worst about this boy, and we all know what assume break down to spell. need i say anymore

So then are you saying that the story in the papers is a lie? The guy who was shot was not sitting in a stolen vehicle attempting to sell drugs? And he did not lift his shirt to show the gun in his waistband?..... So then what are the facts and why haven't those been reported?

The facts of the case, witnesses, crime scene and Police report all substantiate this incident. Nuff said. To all the friends of the deceased - sorry for the loss of your loved one - however he was a criminal. Otherwise he wouldnt have been in the vehicle dealing drugs with a gun in his waistband.

Derrick Watson, 20, moved toward the officer, lifted up his shirt and reached for a gun in his waist.

How do you know that we know nothing about this? How do you know how we live? Most of us do not live like you perhaps, as you are saying you live in that ghetto world and culture?

A lot of us see this happening over and over again, repeating to a point that we just cannot take it anymore. We don't have the tolerance any longer in dealing with these POS people who endanger our lives, endanger their children (unfortunately they breed more to repeat this cycle); and you think we have no business discussing our views? This affects ALL of us, one way or another, so it is our business. Don't like it, then go somewhere else.

There are some of us who actually care about our community as a whole, not just one section or one people. We care care about the wellbeing of our neighborhoods and citizens.

We are trained as children to care about our communities, whereas most of the people in the ghetto culture do not. I guess that is where we clash. Too bad. You reap what you sow. Unfortunatley, it affects us, too.
