What the heck is going on in Rockwall??? There was another shooting near the YMCA about the same time--around 8:10 PM--during my son's football game. Are the shootings related? Rockwall is so quiet, nothing like this happens there and then two shootings in one day???? Why is there nothing about the second shooting yet?? Nothing on the TV news, nothing on the internet??

This article is another example of why the mainstream media is dropping readers like flies at a Raid party. Who is whom? Was the dead guy arguing with another individual, and the officer intervened? Is the cop the one with whom the victim was arguing? Was their business at the church, or were they just driving by?
Nice writing. J-school paid off really, really well.

KTVT 11's website said that the officer was a member of the church and happened to see the man in the Mustang, who then pointed the gun at the officer. Police and Church staff said they didn't know why the man was in the parking lot.

Perhaps he had something to do with the shooting mentioned by Rowlett Mom.

Did they say what time the shooting happened at Lake Pointe? We were at the YMCA around 7:30-8:30 for the football game. The shooting happened just behind where we were, I think the street that runs behind the YMCA sports fields is called Caruth Ln. We heard two shots, but they sounded like firecrackers. The coach even said, "Is someone setting off fireworks already?" No one really paid attention until all the sirens blared down the street.

11's story was at 9:32, doesn't have the time, but the photos looks like it was not dark yet when the news team arrived on the scene.

Victim? The man shot was the aggressor - the instigator of the entire situation. He was no victim, he just paid the consequences of his actions. Please choose words carefully, as they actually do mean something.

BTW, the two men originally involved in the altercation drove into the parking lot because one of them was actually going to Lake Pointe (he is a coach at the sports ministry there). The young man who was shot followed him there due to some kind of "road rage" incident. When the officer tried to de-escalate, the young man pulled a gun and that's when the officer shot the young man. The coach and officer were unharmed. The incident happened between 5 and 6pm.

My husband and I happen to be very close friends with the deceased and his wife and child...this is unlike him and we are trying to figure out exactly what happened and the police wont tell us anything right now. Are there any good witnesses out there that can give us some more information on what happened? Please?

Nice or not - that's what happens when you treat people like s.h.i.t. and pull guns on officers.

When will society learn that you never truly know your neighbors unless you live with them....

Hmmm... I guess Jesus just hangs out inside the church, but doesn't bother to go out onto the parking lot to protect his followers when trouble comes up. Good thing the security dude was packing heat.

A "coach" at the "sports ministry"? I must have missed that chapter of the Bible. Let's have a look... oh my bad, here it is... the 11th commandment states "thou shalt bench press 100 pounds or more to show the brethren thy strength in Christ".

Rockwall.. terrible traffic, summer heat, arrogant, SUV-drivin' born-again Christian jarheads, and people carrying guns... recipe for disaster. This will only get worse as the summer gets hotter, the traffic gets worse, and gas prices keep going up.

Dear Dave,

I am sorry that your heart is so dark and filled for anger. This site wasn't meant to bash on people of Rockwall, or a church. It was meant to talk about the incident that happened last night, which is someone in a Mustang pulled a gun on people after a 'one sided' road rage incident. Obviously, you have some type of jealously towards people of Rockwall and those that drive SUV's or you wouldn't have said what you said. You need to go find something in your life to keep you busy enough as to not spend your time worrying about what people do in other cities and what they drive.

Hey Dave, why so mad sweetie? The "security dude" was an off duty police officer. Yes they were all lucky he had hid weapon on him. And believe it or not but this kinda thing happens other places than just churches in Rockwall.
Just thought you'd like to know.

Some of my family belongs to Lakepoine Church and there are jinistries for everything there..even anger management. The body, mind AND sould need care...LakePointe tries to care for their flock.
Rockwall grew up fast and no one planned for such a growth spurt. Good folks live there...and as in any place in the US, bad things happen, and a lot of times bad things happen to good people.
Wrong place, wrong time, and a molehill turned into a mountain..sad for everyone.

Something tells me Dave is someone to look out for while you are driving in Rockwall. Hopefully the person he decides to unleash all his rage on "when it gets hotter" will have a gun to protect themselves also.

Didn't you know: Everyone is entitled to have an uzi sub-machine gun and several automatic weapons...

...at home
...in the car
...maybe keep a few at work and a few at home!

What could possibly go wrong?

The "gun nuts" love to quote the 2nd Amendment, but they always leave out the first part which clearly indicates, to me anyway, that the writers' intent was to speak of something similar to the National Guard, as in, "A well regulated militia..."

I guess if everyone could also have a nuclear weapon, we would all be EVEN MORE SAFE!

Have you ever read the ENTIRE 2nd Amendment? ItÂ’s easy to look up.
