I wouldn't read too much into this, although the democrats should worry, republicans shouldn't take this as a sign of big wins in 2010. people are not happy with any incumbent now. if a strong 3rd party candidate were to crop up in any elect, people would pull towards that candidate rather than either party.

I guess we will have to see how this turns out. I wouldnt be suprised if Republicans get some areas. Lets just remember its not about what party gets in, its what they do with it, and republicans havent done anything for the past 8 yrs they had power. I think most people remember this. If not... just look at Iraq that should help

The Democrats took over Congress in 2006 in both houses I believe. They have had control since and Bush could not get anything done because of them. So it is their fault. Democrats.

If we could just get the democrats to do like the republicans and do nothing, we would all be better off.

I think that if the unemployment drops in 2010 I think the Dems will stay in power. At least Obama is addressing the national debt, I do give him credit on that. As far as the stimulus he passed, I would have been more for it if it went more to infrastructure which would have put millions of people back to work. Yes, the Republicans had not had power all 8 years of Bush's terms but they did have control of the 6 years and the White House for 8 years that was the most important part of the 2000s even when the Democrats won Congress in 2006 and took power in 2007, their policies didn't go into affect until FY 2008 which started in October of 2007. Now the Democrats control it all, so this time it will be them who will take credit or heat for things, but Republicans should not take these numbers and run with it because people see the Republican party as the party of No instead of the party of alternative solutions.

Republicans were filibustered or threatened with a filibuster everytime they tried to act when they had control. Then the Democrats took over and accused the Republicans of being a "do nothing" Congress. Then they did nothing but blame Bush. BTW, Congress voted for the war before they voted against it.(Famous John Kerry quote)They try to make this Bush's war, but it is the United States' war. Why has your precious little Obama not pulled out. I would rather be 0 for 2 than get all our troops killed because another spineless President wont act.

Could you explain how Obama is addressing the national debt. Where do you think all that stimulus money came from. We either have to borrow it or print it.

OK anyone else who brings up the stimulus are talking out of their asses and should return the stimulus checks that were sent out in 2008 if you are going to cry about the deficit. Seriously, yes the deficit is a problem and I wish the stimulus would have went to more real work, but where you when the stimulus of 2008 was passed? Bet you got that check you went straight to the bank to cash that check not caring about the deficit then did you?

U.S. Treasury Confident Congress Will Increase Debt Ceiling

By Rebecca Christie

Nov. 13 (Bloomberg)-- The Obama administration is confident Congress will raise the country’s debt limit by year end to avert a showdown similar to the one that shuttered parts of the government in 1995, administration officials said.

The White House wants an increase of at least $1 trillion to $1.5 trillion, according to a person familiar with the deliberations between lawmakers and the administration.
Record budget deficits are pushing the national debt closer to the $12.1 trillion statutory limit.

So you people admit to spending it, well good for you, then you shouldn't complain about the stimulus passed this year. If Obama did the same thing Bush did, I bet you'd be complaining about it all the way to the bank.
