Considering how many of us work without benefit of unions to protect our jobs, with no retirement, lousy insurance plans - what is their beef?!?!

Here we go again while working...A call comes over the 2 way radio wanting to know ---- What's going on in Garfield? No wonder why John Kubasta didn't know any better because every time the teachers got mad they stop teaching. Then when I came home my phone started again with ... What's going on in that town...First they try to run over the cops in town and now the teachers are refusing to teach. I am so sorry I ever told anyone I ever came from Garfield. Well Wolf52--Now I think I need to change my X-town as well as my last name....And the saga goes on. What a great town!

I know of people who work without benefits and unions to protect and that bothers them, they are ususally disgruntal, much like you sound. Teachers pay their union to protect thier rights and if that is what the union is doing than the teachers are getting thier monies worth. If you are not happy with the lack of benefits and no union at your job, go back to school and become a teacher. I SUPPORT THE TEACHERS!

Put the school board members behind bars. They have squandered the taxpayers money and got their family members high paying jobs using their influence.
Now there isn't enough for the teachers. This is what happens when you elect people to office who use their position for self gain. Abbott Burke my ass!
Taxpayers get screwed and the kids get a lousy education. Lor, you make more sense than the idiots who will empty their pockets paying higher taxes to only have it mismanaged. I rather see charter schools and vouchers. End the monoploy of corruption and waste.

Are the people aware it all is with a certain family from the judge Mr. C to the Dr. to the Super of schools and the super explains it all. He was a teacher and before a short time a principal and now the super. I was reminded earlier about when Mr. P was in high school himself. There was a class trip in the Poconos and there was a group of seniors who went into rooms and threw TV's etc. into the pool. All of a sudden everything was paid for and it blew over. What a great leader for our teachers and children too.

If there's any justice, these creeps will all end up in jail. Scum rises to the top and there's enough scum to fill Dahnert's Lake 3 times. You hit it on the head "Garfield". The party is about to come to an end. It used to be a decent town many years ago, even with limited corruption. Now it's about to hit the fan! Do you wonder why over 95% of teachers and police officers live out of town? Think they might know something we don't know?

Good Morning...After reading some blogs I noticed that it's been written about how the teachers buy some of their own supplies. I know someone whos daughter is a teacher in Ridgewood. Yes, Ridgewood an upscale neighborhood. This teacher gets $50 for the YEAR FOR SUPPLIES. What she does is in Sept. she writes down a list and sends it home with one child one day then another child he next day. The parnts then agree to donate an item and cross it off the list. So it is all over and not only in Garfield. But they do not call out sick at the children's expense. I have very good benefits where I am working and am very satisfied and content and happy with them. There is no need for me to strike. What's wrong with the parents in Garfield....Do they not care? When a child can't keep up it's just throw them in special ed and get rid of them. Years ago we had teachers that were willing and would stay after school to help certain students catch up. Today the teachers attitude is f*******. Oh well, it's sad but true.

To Garfield you are so right ,and you to wolf. Now it seems, that the board members want to spread their horrible actions and promote their own to the council and stop the progress of the city.

GARFIELD IS FINISHED! And I have news for you pet.
The city council & Board of Ed are one in the same.
It's been a game they played on the public for many years that they were opposed to each other. The joke is on the taxpayers, and what an expensive joke it has been. Sorry for the reality check!
Don't think a state takeover will fix it now either, it's too far gone.

A family member owned a business in Garfield where people came who worked for the board of Education. Do you have any idea how many pens, pencils, paper clips, paper, and lots more things were handed over. Years and years and years after this person retired there was still boxes of supplies unopened. So imagine what these people had/have in their houses!!!!! It would be a real sad day if they got rid of this city manager. TEACHERS PET--If your a teacher then you are one in a million...and I mean that as a compliment.

No, I am not a teacher , but smart enough to know that the two school board members running for the council are not qualified to serve on the council and have done enough damage to the childrens education and to the reputation of Garfield. The Mayor and Council hired T . Duch and for that alone will get my vote along with my familie's support. He has been there fo seven years ,so I do not understand Wolfs comment that he is to honest to stay as manager. It tells me GARFIELD has a good Mayor and council, and they will be the better choice in may.

Opps, Had my names & incidents concerning the school system mixed up. But mixed up or not they are all relatives or friends anyway. The Record and Herald News are now reporting how the school system does not know how to displine the students. Well they learned from the best. Their Teachers. When something goes wrong just walk out and leave the mess behind.

I agree Garfield. What a shame and as usual the kids and parents are used a pawns in the whole mess.
Hey moved, I had more than a few tell me they used to get supplies from the school system too. I never saw them, but a few reliable people said it was true. I'm starting to believe it now. TEACHER'S PET you are easily fooled. I think it might be your Garfield education. Stick around, you might see how the wool has been pulled over your eyes. As far as Mrs. "A" She might be the only one who don't have a member of her family on the payroll. I left that town years ago. No hope for the people who keep electing the recycled politicians. Progress? You must be kidding me!

If T.D can do his job without being swayed by the council, there might be hope. He is a good guy at heart.

Wolf52 you better believe all are not telling lies about the supplies. They even came from school bus drivers...imagine that! Years ago the supply room was a free for all...It's amazing isn't it. Most likely it's still a free for all today. Staplers etc. were being passed around like crazy. There was an abundance. Oh yea, even the janitors were passing out supplies as needed. Well at least one janitor that I knew of. These men aren't around/alive anymore but I am sure it's still going on. Maybe if the teachers would teach instead of striking the students would then know things like not to try and out run a cop. I still can't believe they want to punish the school kids for walking out but not the teachers. That's Garfield for you...Dumb...Dummbbberrr...Dum mmeeesssstttt

The kids were set up to do the dirty work for some of the teachers. I'm sure the majority of them aren't so sly to use kids for their cause. That is beyond low. But it's also typical Garfield. I have an idea which janitor you mentioned. Just be glad you moved out and don't have to say, "I live in Garfield." It used to make me cringe at times. The image of it is horrible to most of Bergen County and to intelligent people in general. It's the whole "Goodfella Mentality" that the jerks buy into. They think it's cool.
They can't see what it costs them having fools running the city into the ground. Wake up people!

I think the kids maybe went about it the wrong way, but most of them that I have talked to did want to support the teacher's. I know alot of the teacher's in the school system, and most of them are very good and careing people. My friend has been a teacher in Garfield for almost 20yrs. and you couldn't ask for a better one.
For people to tear down Garfield all the time, even thought some may have lived here most of their lives and got the benefits for many years from the school and town, it doesn't to me seem right to attack the school teacher's and alot of the wonderful things they also have done for the children. I have been working with children most all of my life and still do, and believe me before all of this happened and even now, most of the children do have alot of respect for most of their teacher's. I feel if the teacher's in any town no matter what town it is deserves a raise they should get it, they have a hard job, I know because I also take care of children.
