Got caught on a convenience store video camera stealing a customer's Blackberry she left on the counter. He was charged with theft and have his day in court. Another black eye for the Board of Education, but for the people of Garfield just more of the same BS. How he got elected at all is beyond my realm of reality. Honesty and integrity are not easy to find in most politicians these days.
In Garfield, even less. I feel sorry for his family. He's still innocent until proven otherwise.

It's sad but this is one of the first things that come to mind when anyone mentions Garfield...Why do people take/steal from their own? Weather it's a cop or someone in office. Don't they realize that this town is where they breathe, sleep, eat, work, etc.? People on other blogs say that there are still many good people in Garfield but unfortunately they are becoming fewer and fewer.....

There are still some hard working and even retired people like my husband and I are. When you retire there is a whole world out there for you to enjoy with friends and family as we are doing right now, I hope thing work out for him, he has been aroung along time. I feel sorry for his family more than him. Sonetime people can be very judgemental about other except when it is about them and their short comeing.9812

Too many people make excuses for bad behavior.
Also Garfield, you sound like a honest person and mean well, but when you have people with poor character in positions of power it's never good for the rest of the people. His family will suffer anytime he does something foolish. This is why you have so many politicians who lack the ethics you have. They screw up and and nobody holds them accountable for it, they just re-elect them. I think some people get immune to corruption and think it's how the system works. It really doesn't.

I agree with you old school. I just think all people should not be judged by some. People love to tear Garfield down and what I have found is that the some of the people that are doing all the bad mouthing are the ones that were brought up in Garfield and got plenty from family from it, just because you don't live here anymore you shouldn't bad mouth where you were raised. I am enjoying my retirement traveling and having fun, but I still don't forget where my roots came from, it was nice here years ago. But what you said is right the people running this town and I am sure others also are in for what they can get and that comes right from the top. Nice chatting with you you make alot of sence and seem to see both sides

Old School...Did he really get caught on a video camera stealing? If so shame on him. It's amazing how and why people would want to do some kind of a robbery from a town that they live in isn't it? It would be 100 times worst if he/she was a cop or something like that and simply disrespected his/her own town and family that way. But you know what? For those people they usually get caught and end up in jail with a criminal record sooner or later. So lets feel bad/sorry for them. I also agree that there are some in that town who only moved there to mooch of of relatives etc....free rent etc. To them I say Shame On You. That is one thing I am proud of .... I always paid my rent on time when I was a tenant and respected the property. There is such a thing as roots but then again (remember when 'parents/relatives' lived on 3rd and 4th street in Passaic or in on Grand St. in Paterson....There comes a time to move on....to greener pastures. It's pretty sad when watching a community you grew up in turn Abbott .... Let's see now there's Newark, Passaic, Patterson, Garfield, etc.... Time to move.....

Looks like a plea deal will set him free and he'll get to stay as board VP. So much for justice Garfield Style. He'll go to an intervention program and say he's sorry. Not as sorry as the people who he is suppose to serve.

School board official’s case delayed July 28,2009

HACKENSACK — The criminal case against Garfield Board of Education Vice President Anthony Damato was adjourned Monday until Aug. 24.

Damato appeared in state Superior Court in Hackensack on Monday with his attorney James Patuto for a pre-indictment conference with prosecutors. A pre-indictment conference allows for a plea deal with prosecutors to avoid a grand jury indictment, and possibly a court case.
Neither Damato nor Patuto commented on the case.
In addition to serving as Board of Education vice president, Damato is employed by the Garfield Housing Authority. Herald & News 7/28/09

Haven't been on in a few days...You know-it's kind of busy down the shore area...After another 'summer weekend'-- Concert in the Park on Mon.--one in another park in Berkley (The Duprees) tonight -- Tomorrow in Sandy Hook...Just about waking up in time for the school bus in the mornings. My poor pets are starting to feel like orphans...although I make it my business 'inbetween bus runs' to give them the attention they need and deserve. I love them both!
WOW!!! What else can be said except as you and many other people say --- It'll be taken care of Garfield Style.....
The one thing I can't understand is why people try to mess with or 'screw around with' the hand that feeds them. As I said before...I lived in Garfield but never 'Used' them for my benefit or needed Garfield 'T0 Feed Me'. Never took a $ from them. Don't certain people realize that everytime they 'are on the take' or whatever...it not only cost them but the tax payers as well. Now think about it...this incident will also (I believe) cost the tax payers for lawyers fees, court costs, etc. That Is A Shame.....

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Pisces

Although you're busy putting the finishing touches to your Christmas preparations, you'll also have to pay attention to someone who's feeling neglected or unloved. Luckily, it won't take much to make this person feel better, so a big hug or a little consideration might do the trick. You should also bear in mind that they may be feeling nostalgic or sad about the past.
