WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO)-
Police say a 16-year-old girl is dead and another 16-year-old girl is in police custody. Officials say the girls were fighting around 8 p.m. Wednesday at 4769 Walford Road in Warrensville Heights.

The fight was broken up, but then Shaakira Dorsey collapsed. EMS rushed her to the hospital, where she died.

The suspect has been charged with one count of murder. Her name is not being released.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has not yet released the cause of death for Dorsey.

The Warrensville Heights School District released a statement saying:

"Warrensville Heights City School District is deeply saddened by the loss of a member of our student family, Shaakira Dorsey, who passed away on Wednesday evening. Shaakira was an eleventh grade student at the High School and a member of the Lady Tigers Softball Team.

We will follow our established procedures for this type of crisis. The Grief Counseling Team will be available in the High School throughout the remainder of the week and next week as well.

At this time, we are respecting her family's privacy and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Details regarding arrangements will be shared at a later date."

Never had things like this happen in my day when I was in school.

Watching the television news the next night, kids that watched the fight were interviewed by the reporter and they said that the fight started over an argument with the two girls because of the one girl farted! Stupid thing to lose your life over but that's what this Country has come to be.

When I was a kid, there were fights all the time, but not to the point of death. If you got the best of another kid, then they said Uncle and that was the end of it. Same thing other way around. Now it seems like they beat each other beyond submission. They just continue until something like this happens.

There is no way that as a parent I could have stood by and watched someones child be beaten to death. I would have stopped it. I have a teenage daughter and there is no way I would watch as someone beat her. I cannot imagine getting the call that my husband stood there and watched my daughter be beatend.

If that's true, then he should be held as an accomplice plus charged with child endangerment.

Isn't it possible that the fight wasn't that bad? Maybe she died from a pre-existing heart condition. Kids have been fighting forever. In this case, there doesn't seem to be any gun play or knives involved.

Sorry, but I've seen a lot of fights when I was a kid. Nobody ever killed another during the brawl.

I've never witnessed someone die of a heart defect either. Do you really think the girl beat her to death? Seriously? Good money says the cause of death is heart related.

If the cause of death is related to blunt force trauma to the head or torso, I was wrong.

We'll see, but in my day, girls didn't fight to the death regardless of the cause. Girls were ladies and acted as such in most cases. I'm living in a world I don't understand.

Some years back, I was living with my sister while work was being done on my house. My niece (then 17) came home all upset. Some boy said he was going to fight her, and she didn't know what to do.

Confused, I thought to myself "A boy fighting a girl and announcing it to his friends?" When I was a boy, I would never dream of that. For one, guys don't beat up girls. Secondly, when I was a kid, if I told my friends I was going to fight a girl, they would have beaten the hell out of me for being a pssy."

A couple of days later--still living at my sisters in her basement, I was bored, so I went channel surfing on cable. Television sucks now, and I came across a few shows where a hot chick was using karate and other forms of violence kicking the crap out of these big bad tough guys. Then it dawned on me were boys get this idea that fighting a girl was fair game.

I used to be a guy who thought television didn't influence our young so much. I would hear of stories where a kid got a gun and shot somebody or a group of people because he watched a show or was a fan of a certain musician who had violent songs out. The kid is just screwed up in the head. It had nothing to do with the television or radio.

Now my views have changed. Okay, so perhaps the boy that threatened to fight my niece was screwed up too. But then all of his friends as well???? No. Television influences these kids in a very negative way.

That's how it is anymore. Black kids don't know any better and neither do the parents or adults. Life means nothing to them so if they kill someone or they get killed, who cares? Not them.

I'm not a father but if I were and my son or daughter was being beaten, you better bet your last dollar that I would break it up no matter what the outcome would be, like the other parent suing me for touching or grabbing her kid. Like you said Mom, how could the adults just stand there and watch that fight without stopping it?

Back in your day, it was only okay to beat up a woman if she was your wife. lol I do understand your point. They constantly show women kicking butt on TV and in the movies. I think it affects the girls and the boys. Women are also a lot more outspoken than in your time. The girls were timid because their mothers had to be timid. Now the mothers can hit the man in the face with a frying pan and have him arrested. It trickles down to the children.

If anyone thinks violence with girls is only a black problem, just check some of the YouTube videos of white girls acting crazy and fighting. Everyone thank feminism for our girls and women now act.

I live in the area and it's alleged that the victim endured a history of bullying by the perpetrator. Rumor alleges that her stepfather watched the brawl, possibly of the sad mentality that this was a way to confront the situation. I hope that is not the case but if so it only compounds the tragedy. Certainly not something I'd endorse. I and many others are mortified by this. It's terribly tragic. I happen to be Black and I do know better. I care about my children and your children too.

Sometimes you swear the parents are just as dumb as the kids.

A lot of these parents aren't the brightest bulb in the box so that's how they bring their kids up, to be dumbbells. When my neighbors moved in years ago next door, I watched for years the stupid things that they'd do, parents and kids alike. The kids would take their brand new bicycles and slam them into trees or the side of my garage while they're on them, right in front of the parents. And what would the parents say? Nothing! Not a thing. They'd jump off their garage roof, no parents would say anything. run out into the street without looking for cars while a car's coming, parents remain silent. There's must be something missing in their brain somewhere that tells them right from wrong and what's dangerous to do. It's like they just don't know or care.

we just had something similar to this at Hollywood and Maple Heights Blvd. No one was killed, however there were 100-150 "children" in the middle of the intersection watching the fight and blocking traffic. This occured at 3:00ish in the afternoon. There were adults out in the yards watching, and not one of them attempted to stop it, they just stood there watching it all go down. This is almost a weekly occurance as the schools let out. It's also one reason an entire shift has to converge on the schools and follow them as they walk down the street.
You should not get in the middle of it or you will get your as# kicked to,just call the police.

Sounds like the darling, Shaakira Dorsey was a bully and she got what she had coming to her for bullying another kid. Had her bullying caused that child's suicide, would we be feeling sorry for her then? A bully gets what they deserve when their victim takes them down.

First I want to say two lives has been destroyed the mother of the deceased girl and the girl that was protecting herself. This fight could have been avoided the stepfather played a major part. and I wish everyone stop saying the other girl killed the deceased girl.
