The city of Garfield hts is in fiscal emergency so how is it possible the the presiding judge of 2011 was able to give her probation officer a $28,000 annual increase!!! This is outrageous and total waste of money!!!! How can that judge work for the municipal court and her husband is the assistant law director!!!
Something is horribly wrong and this needs to be looked into!!
And people are worried about Dimora!

A $28,000 raise? Well the city does make a lot of money writing bullshjt tickets. The cops really don't have anything to do but make revenue.

Just finding it curious that there have been 3 posts on this subject. First the raise was 23K, then 26K and now 28K. I think before I jumped to any judgement I'd ask how much the officer was making in the first place and how that compared to what they could make elsewhere. The judge may have realized that the officer was severely underpaid and was about to quit for a better job. There could be any number of reasons totally unrelated to the city's fiscal emergency. (I guess this hit home because I found out my salary is 30K below the national average for my job position... so yeah, if something comes along, my boss is going to have to scramble or lose me. His call. Could be the same thing.)

The salary for a probation officer is around $50,000 tops. Garfield -- in the fiscal state that it is in -- has no business paying more than $40,000 to a probation officer. So unless the PO was making $15,000 or so before the raise, spending an additional $20,000 or more is not justified.

There are plenty of starving college grads who would gladly take the job for $35,000.

The salary is not justified at all. This probation officer is making in the mid $60,000!!! This is an absolute joke!!! The deputy clerks in the clerks office have not received ANY raise for the past 6, years... The cost of living goes up annually but unfortunately their pay checks do not.. I dont know how this judge can go into the clerks office and show her face to those hard working people and not feel the least bit bad for pissing all over them. The workers I heard finally got a raise from the presiding judge of 2012. Thank god for her!!! She cares about all her employees and does her best to take care of them. They all received the same amount of 3%. Hats off to judge Nicastro!!!

What do they do with all that money they are raking in? The Garfield court is literally a printing press.

I heard a local resident went to a council meeting and questioned the mayor of garfield about the large raise the probation officer got. It was actually printed in the Neighborhood News on how unhappy he is about this!!! Its funny how that paper was brought into the police department and it was all thrown away trying to "hide" what was done!! Do people really think others are that stupid... Its public record!!! DUHHHHHHH
