There must not have been many people in the poll. We live on a quiet street in ravenna, oh and all of us lock our doors--day and night. We also have motion detectors. On this street you would have 3 out of 4 that do not feel safe.

It's time for another 10 cent beer night in Cleveland.

I guess it depends on where you live. Here in Maple Heights, not many do feel safe walking the street at night. Garfield is not far behind.

Whatever this poll shows, they cannot discount the alarming response to CCW licenses in Ohio. In fact, Ohio ranked number one in new applicants of people wishing to carry firearms on their person.

Dogs are fine, but anybody can purchase a can of dog mace for about $20.00 on the internet. Guns are great if you can shoot half-way descent. But I refuse to stay in the house scared of what's out there. I lock my doors only when I'm going to sleep for the night or away from home for a long period of time such as when I go to work in the morning.

I feel fine in the area I live. You routinely see people walking the dog, jogging, and it is quite peaceful. I see couples doing power walks. Nicely trimmed lawns.

Now in other parts of the city it is totally the opposite. All I see is people with pants falling of their a$$es, walking in the middle of the street, homes looking in terrible condition. Just hard to believe it is the same city. I guess the riff raff don't make it by Walton Hills or Valley View. In all my time here only had trouble with one neighbor, the bum that lives with mom, but since he lost his car it is utter peace. I have no complaints.

Grandma, sorry to hear Elyria has gotten so bad. I was born there many years ago, but my parent moved to Santa Barbara, CA, when I was still a kid. I returned to Elyria for summer vacations, Christmas and Easter holidays, etc., until I graduated from high school. My dad was the pastor of a church back there, and the people were terrific. I haven't been to Elyria since the early '70's, only to Columbus for the OSU/MI game every other year. We lived on Princeton Ave., Eastern Heights area I guess. Sorry to hear it's deteriorated so much.
