Not exactly. What such media outlets do is try to be the first with the story regardless of accuracy. That brings in ratings.This story is a perfect example of how the media puts a spin on stories to get ratings,facts are usually always exaggerated!
When we look at the George Bush/ Al Gore election, we find that the media played a large part in that debacle. This is because the media reported that Florida went to Al Gore without a doubt. This was reported by Fox News. Because of that announcement, it is suspected that many voters didn't even bother to vote since the results were already decided.
Here we have two media reports: one which states the driver chased the robber, and another that states the driver ran out of the building and hid. The latter sounds more reasonable. This was not a kid. This was a man in his mid 50's who knew better.
