Being of a young age, we were very excited to be able to ski on the snowdrifts in town.
In the midst of the haylift confusion, my little brother, charles, experienced a medical crisis, requiring him being flown to San Francisco for treatment.
The storms were so severe that upon his return with our parents (Bob and Leona), the plane had to land in Fallon where the Ambulance service met them.
We were renting from Doris Dangburg, and with my folks in San Francisco and me lodging with the Stodeicks, there was no-one to keep the home fires burning. Subsequently, the pipes burst.
It was not a good year for the Gardners.
