What nobody is monitoring is people who own firearms," DeMoura said. "They can go to New Hampshire one day and Rhode Island tomorrow. Nobody is looking at people who possess a large quantity of firearms.
"Nobody is following up. I think that is what we have to look for. If someone is buying a gun a day, why is he doing that? Nobody is following up."
That's because it's none of your business spying on the law abiding PIG!

Just remember folks, when the things break down, resist the natural urge to sacrifice your freedoms for temporary safety~

Hear hear! Chief Demoura, it's none of your business if I want to own 1,000 guns and 1 million rounds of ammo. As a law abiding citizen I feel that the chiefs of police need to be stripped of their authority to deny licenses. Mass should be a shall issue state. Barring any disqualifying offenses all citizens should be issued a license to carry any firearm they want.

Chief Demoura,

It is none of your business how many guns someone owns. If someone is rich enough to buy one gun each day then that is their right. Buying 1 or 1000 guns does not make someone a criminal.

@burned up: there IS actually a limit on how much ammo you can own. There are fire codes and MGL's to consider. 10,000 centerfire and 10,000 rimfire if memory serves.

DeMoura's comments in this article are frightening and show that he is a power hungry socialist suffering from little man's syndrome, kind of like our governor. They refuse to use current laws to punish criminals who use guns then on the other hand they want to restrict and run every aspect of those that are law abiding and own guns legally. Chief DeMoura, please stop trying to run the lives of the law abiding and do your job to fix the huge crime problem in Fitchburg! This is a glowing example of why the power should be taken away from chiefs of police to grant or deny a gun license depending on how they feel. Second amendment rights should not be denied to anyone who has a clean record and has put in the time and effort to obtain a gun license in this state!

I agree 1000%. How many times have we seen in the paper young punks with no gun licenses get pulled over, the cop finds an unlicensed gun in their car, and they are then given a slap on the wrist and let out on $500 bail. That is completely unacceptable and needs to be changed. Telling me how many guns I can own and checking up on me to see what I am doing with them wont do anything to curb crime, start throwing criminal scumbags in jail when they are caught with a gun!

Amazing. Statistics show that states that are shall issue (like Florida) have seen a dramatic drop in violent crime in the years since it became a "shall issue" state. Why? Because you have a good chance of getting blasted if many people own a gun and you think they are an easy mark. So let's see ... restricted may issue state .. hmmm easy target, little chance they can defend themselves. Politics has NO place in gun control. If I run for office and say "gun control gun control" to get 55% of the vote .. hmm yeah thats it! Has nothing to do with whats right, its what gets me elected ... charged with DUI in 80's, so no guns for you, but yeah we'll sell you a quart of vodka and let you drive .. makes perfect sense ...

The reason why New Hampshire is the safest is because everyone has guns. who is going to commit crimes if you know theres a 100% chance you are gonna get fired back on. In this state only gangbangers have guns and the police can't crackdown and do everything.Homeowners need to wake up in Mass.

You are absolutely correct. In a recent study states were ranked in terms of safety regarding gun violence and violent crime. New Hampshire ranked number #1 per capita in the country, while Massachusetts ranked 22nd! Liberals in Mass like to rip NH for their "lax" gun laws, but why then are you much safer living in NH?? It is just the usual case of facts getting in the way of a good arguement for looney liberals!

I believe you are correct but that is a storage law not possession. Split up a diffrent locations there is no limit to how much you can own. Demoura is a typical liberal and Wong is a member of Bloombergs anti gun Mayors against Illegal guns. Anyone who enjoys their freedom should be concerned about these two.

the chief is a idiot and he loves the crime. he doesn't care about the town or its people period. i know guys who know him directly and he def doesn't have good things to say about us, or this town. I'll be damned if i let this pos tell me i cannot have a legal weapon. ill take it higher to a supreme court. if it fails, guess ill just carry illegaly. either way chief, idc what you say. im protecting my family at all costs. the right is in the bible, and our amendments. you are no god guy. have fun with the backlash of this. I'll be damned to support a station who allows crimals purposly to go free but attack law abiding citizens cause his life sucks. you and the gardner pd should hook up sometime. till then, ill be out in the streets kickin ass much ass as i can. and anybody who breaks into my place, gang or not, will NOT leave. not a threat, a promise and my right. ill be damned i let the us take my rights way and ignore things until they got small fish to fry and do it to make themselves look good. although nobody thinks u look good. just like the guy above this comment, and many to come. you want work chief? now you got it :) can;t wait for you to screw this up so your stripped of your rank sir. good day!
