Why don't you get your facts straight Bob. The Townsend Fire Department, put a fire truck at the Amadon Residents (as was done back in the 1980's) to provide coverage to that area. Also, if you checked up your facts, you will have noticed that just beyond the bridge on Route 119, you will have noticed that there is an easement to allow TFD personnel to get to that fire truck, and that area.
Furthermore, if you checked up on your facts, just last week, the Town of Townsend voted for several thousand dollars, for easements for the reconstruction of that bridge.
The only thing, as you state as being "overburdened" is apparently your lack of IQ and apathy in your so-called perfect Town of Ashby, where you people cannot even take care of what paved roads you have.
Townsend gave it's Police Department a decent building to work out of. Unless you have a problem, of a personal matter with your police department, that creates the misnomer of there being some sort of "Beacon Hill" type of corruption/spending scheme to provide the Town a Police Station that meets Federal/State standards, and would rather have it housed in what amounts to what the poorest people live in your so-called perfect town, then go ahead.
However, when I read the posts on this issue, it only shows that people like you, who want more services, but don't wish to pay for them, and then cry foul when your politicians bend to your whims and wishes. All I have read, is how it becomes Townsend's, Gardner's and Ashburnham's problem because people like you won't pay for a Police Department.
All your post has proven, that you have no options, and your anti-tax stance is overburdened with problems that it has created for Ashby.
If it does go through, just expect, that it won't be cheap, and Townsend's taxpayers will hold your feet to the fire.
Hey Stoned! Exactly how many millions of dollars has Sterilite given to Townsend in the way of cash, property and buildings? The residents of Townsend act like they've created the infrastructure.

Bob's right. We don't want your Gestapo police force in Ashby.

Look, Ashby cannot even take care of the roads it has, and somehow, it shows with the fact that the Ashby P.D. has ONLY one cruiser in serviceable condition.
So could you please tell me, and for the many people in Townsend, who pay dearly for their Police Department, how it is that Ashby is going to come up with their share of a Regional Compact, when they cannot even take care of the roads in their town?
I think that the people in Ashburnham, and Gardner would like to know this also, as they have been touted as being possibles in this situation if Townsend won't go through with it.
Simply put, you people in Ashby want everything for nothing, and expect your neighbors to bail you out.
Two word answer to your problems.
TOO BAD!
Smoke another bone. Without Sterilite Townsend would be in the same financial condition as Ashby.
