but my time has come to an end. Good bye to the Fitchburg forum! I am ready to move on to the next chapter. This book just keeps repeating themselves. One against the other. What I don't hear about is neighborhood clean ups. Like I said to another forum
Don't go, Tripps! We can change. I swear. When I first came on the forum I thought it was for what you envisioned. THEN I found out it was a "grouse" board. But it doesn't have to be!

If you're still there-I'll make a deal with you: We'll both mention two things a day-one positive thing about Fitchburg and its people, and if we want, one thing that needs to improve. And I'll never mention names unless it's a compliment.

What do you say?

#1 Monday good thing about Fitchburg-Coolidge Park. Don't you love Coolidge, Trippy?

Funny, as soon as I posted some positive things in Fitchburg, Trippy decided that the three people who like to bash represent the city's potential. Well, okay then, She just wanted to justify her reason for leaving.'Nuff said.

It's a real same that Trippy decided to leave....I didn't even get a chance to tell her about the known Gang Member who somehow had a legal permit to carry a firearm thanks to the Fitchburg Police Department. This known Gang Member later went on to kill a man with the gun that the FPD gave him permission to carry.

Trippy would have enjoyed the story....it sure as hell appears to point right smack dab at corruption to me.

There is no corruption within Fitchburg! It is entitlement. Come join us at the Fay club. You can purchase an entitlment to break the law sticker for just $10,000.

Coverup the corruption by throwing a Dominican officer under the bus in order to save three corrupt white cops. Welcome to Fitchburg!

The FPD union spends funds to defend an officer who put other officers in harms way! I don't understand the concept??

Can someone check into property giveaways in Fitchburg? Is it a prerequisite to recieve city property that requires the recipient to be a city councilor, police officer or other city employee?

Why are some properties assessed 80% beloe their neighbors assessments? Is this a way to recieve a tax discount?

In Fitchburg, we have a Mayor who spends tax payer funds to investigate illegal activity within the FPD. She then fires the officer. Months later she cuts a deal with him. She then announces that she is not going to reveal the particulars of the case to the public who funded the investigation and elected her into office???

If there is NOTHING to be hidden then ALL the particulars should be able to be revealed to the public! How can she pick and choose what to reveal to the public? What law is she hiding behind? I know that she is "the first female asain Mayor" but we are still in The United States of America; are we not??

There has to be full disclosure to the public! This law protects against corruption. I mean what law is she utilizing to shield these facts?? Is it a new law? like a "Corruption Concealment law"????

Is this laws' sole purpose to conceal corruption from the public?? Why isn't the Sentinel investigating?? HMMM????

It is rumored that Fitchburg is going to be the site of a new FBI satelite office. Now this is interesting news!

We have all read the news concerning the recently fired Dominican officer. There has been further rumors concerning a heavy set Italian officer who may be on the take.

These are just rumors on the street. It is also rumored that relations between current crack and heroin dealers involving high school classmates/current FPD members are the focus of an investigation.

Things could get interesting! Someone call the Sentinel to investigate! First check into drug raids. How on earth did these dealers know the raid was on its way? And when is that crack dealer near the campus pizza joint going to sell his antique car?

It is time to rid Fitchburg of crack, heroin and gangs! Oh, and also the corruption within !!! It can be done, there just needs to be strong guts in leadership roles!

A better and safer Fitchburg is at our reach!!!

so CSS: is there recycling in Fitchburg still? If so and you are committed to make a change recycle exclusively for one week. That means two trash barrels in any room that has a barrel. One for trash and one for recycables. Just a side note I havnt bought a roll of paper towels in 18 months. I compost as well. Do keep me updated on your recycling efforts. The key is to make it easy and clean. If u are still putting all your recyclables on the counter to bring down stairs then you need a new system. One that makes it easy. Where i live you have to pay for your trash removal ( not a big deal) and if we want lots of stuff hauled away we pay a flat rate of 25 unless there is refridgerator ,microwave , matress. I can't believe Fitchburg is barking about that.

Composting is tough in the city. It's like politics-it attracts rats. I'm lucky I live far enough away from my neighbors and dumpsters now that I can do it.

Fitchburg is making great strides recycling. The new barrels for single-stream recycling are working great, and I think lots of people are going to see how simple (not easy) recycling can be.

Congrats on your un-use of paper towels. I compost mine.

Oh, yeah, Fitchburg has its corrupt elements, but as a whole it's pretty cool. Have you ever seen the Goya aisle at Water St. Marketbasket, Trippy? If you love Spanish food, you'd love that! Even if you're not Spanish, just ask someone how to make something, and they'll tell you. In Spanglish, of course, but you'll get it!

The new barrels will be an asset but there have been alot of complaints. The elderly are not able to push or pull a barrel of that size and most senior citizens do not need a barrel that big since they only have a kitchen size trash bag they dispose of every week.

Many of the barrels can be seen left on the sidewalks after trash pickup because of their size limits the areas where they can be stored. Barrels have already been stolen to be used as dog houses, personal storage conatiners and so on. Yes, they have been scanned but that doesn't mean they will be located.

Right now it's easy to roll the container out to the street but in the winter it maybe alot strenuous for people with disabilities. leaving a barrel on or near the street may impede snow plowing and removing the barrel from a snow pile from the plowing may not be feasible for most senior citizens who usually just left a small trash bag for pickup.

Already the illegal dumping has been increasing too. Still this is a good program but there are some issues that may have to be resolved that comes with these containers.

It is great that you recycle as someone is making money off of you. I have to point out, I don't know where you live but let me clarify. Your trash and recycling most likely sits in Fitchburg. How about, the citizens of Fitchburg pay for their trash removal and you get it for free. One catch, we need to move all the landfills, recycling plants and transfer stations to your city or town!!

I support recycling at the same time I fully understand that someone is making a profit off of others time to recycle. I like the idea of recycling in Fitchburg but I feel that it wasn't an honest effort at all! I feel that people were being sneaky again in Fitchburg as the voters are kept in the dark and being tricked.

Our land, air and water within Fitchburg is being affected by city and towns such as yours shipping all their waste and garbage into Fitchburg. Have you ever been behind a dump truck on Rt as they arrive within Fitchburg? Leominster also deals with landfill smells.

This is why I am running for Mayor again so the voters will be made aware of all the issues and secret tactics.

The city of Fitchburg needs to implement a volunteer program that involves just checking in on elder neighbors and assisting them with such chores as taking out the trash. The Mayor and/or city councilors could be speaking at schools and proposing such volunteerism.

I don't know about stolen barrels nor the dual use of a dog house neither. The new barrels will keep a certain level of decent appearance. I agree with the storage of the large barrels as an issue.

I hope that the city has a plan in action to deal with this transition as, Yes it will bring more illegal dumping, piles of trash at apartment buildings which brings Rats and other animals such as skunks ect.

I look at this new system as sneaky. It is a sly way of implementing trash fees and an easing into accepting future fees. The citizens of Fitchburg need to stand up and to demand the renegotiation of the contract with waste management. I understand that trash removal fees are not a big deal to some who recieve cost of living raises and great benefits from their employment but with raising water and sewer, less services and higher taxes and utilty rates our elders on fixed incomes have taken enough of a whack.

Fitchburg does nothing for its residential elders!!!! Fact, unfortunately! If anything government puts a strain on these struggling elders forcing them out of their homes and into housing!

wow you people don't recycle! You r kidding me. That's your problem. I have one bag of trash every two weeks! And I have 4 large bins full of non smelling recycables. U are big on telling us about crooks in Fitchburg lets see a change. On every corner in my town there is a recycle bin and trash bin. The trash bin is usually empty. So again if our trash is going to the Fitchburg dump it's minimal compared to a town that doesn't recycle.

oh and to the unemployment statistic. If the economy is still in the dump when my kid has to go to collage I will encourage her to go to a tech school for high school and then onto some more training. she can become a Plummer, electrician , mechanic . What ever. That way she will most likely have a job during a bad economy. In my opinion parents that r sending their kids to these expensive collages are wasting their money. Guide your child and explain to them that having a trade is far more lucrative than coming out of collage unemployed. If the economy is doing well then I would encourage my daughter to go to collage. That way we as a family don't spend our time complaining that our kid can't get jobs. And one more thought we the American people are a lot to blame for our mess we are in. An example: we lived on a busy street in Fitchburg. 2 bedrooms. We bought it for 120,000 and sold it for 240,000! That was just wrong on all levels. At the time I was young and didn't understand it, but now I do. It afforded us a beautiful house in a great community surrounded by woods but it was wrong and it was happening everywhere. So we has a nation under god are to blame too.

Fitchburg is way behind other areas of the country when it comes to recycling. Here in Maine most communities have been using the bins for recycling and special bags for regular trash for years. It takes only a short time to get used to and then it becomes routine.

Hi Trippy,

I'm curious on what you do in place of paper towels...we have a barrel right on our porch for recycling, and my daughter knows what items can be recycled and which can not. I am amazed at how many things Fitchburg has prohibited from their recycling programs...maybe they will figure out how to include more things in recycling, or maybe manufacturer's could use materials that wouldn't cause certain items (wax coatings, etc.) from being recycled.

we haven't moved toward the composting yet, but a piece at a time...right?
