HE MAY HAVE BEEN A GOOD STUDENT. BUT HE MADE A BAD CHOICE THAT HAS RUINED 2 INNOCENT MEN FOR THE REST OF THIER LIVES. THESE MEN WILL HAVE TO LIVE THE REST OF THIER LIVES BEINING HANDICAPPED, AND SEVERE PAIN, IT AFFECTS THEM, THIER SPOUSES, KIDS, STEPCHILDREN, AND GRAND CHILDREN. I AM SORRY ANDREW DIED BECAUSE OF HIS POOR CHOICE, BUT HE IS THE ONE THAT GOT OFF EASY. I FEEL MORE SORRY FOR THE CRAINSHAWS AND THIER FAMILIES, AND WHAT THEY HAVE TO NOW DEAL WITH. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO THEM AND THIER FAMILIES...:(

A bad choice??? Think about your words. Yes, it was a VERY tragic accident. A teenager lost his life and 2 other people were critically injured. This was an ACCIDENT. No one chose to make this happen. Be respectful of all parties involved. I highly doubt Andrew's friends and family think he took the easy way out or that he made a "choice" that led to this. He made a mistake. My thoughts and prayers go out to both families.

Years ago before the cell phone was even thought about people just drove thier car and focused on the road. Now people act like they can't survive with out a phone stuck to their ear. How ridiculous and sad. Get a life people. alot of people just don't having anycommon sense. And no people should not be allowed to drive with a blue tooth either, you are still on nthe phone and concentrating on the phone call. Pull over to the side of the road and don't endanger others lives.
Concerned citizen, save your comments for another time or place. If you can READ the article, the police DO NOT believe Andrew was distracted by any "gadget". This young man was an amazing kid.

.... a little sympathy and a few well wishes for the two in critical condition? Tragic as it is for Andrew, family and friends, you folks should wake up to the reality there is more than one victim in this crash. Likely the ones that weren't responsible.

I hadn't heard about the other two being handicapped for life. You're right, that is a terrible tragedy. I pray that God will work a miracle in their life and heal them completely. As far as the "bad choice", I can assure you that Andrew did not CHOOSE to do what he did and if it was in his power he would undo it. He was a great young man that made a mistake, like I and you do, daily I'm sure. We just haven't made that exact one.

You're are exactly right. This article that is being commented on, just happens to be about Andrew. If you know some specifics and details about the other two, that weren't responsible, pleasae let us know.

ac·ci·dent
–noun
1. an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss; casualty; mishap: automobile accidents.
2. Law . such a happening resulting in injury that is in no way the fault of the injured person for which compensation or indemnity is legally sought.
3. any event that happens unexpectedly, without a deliberate plan or cause.
4. chance; fortune; luck: I was there by accident.
5. a fortuitous circumstance, quality, or characteristic: an accident of birth.
6. Philosophy . any entity or event contingent upon the existence of something else.
7. Geology . a surface irregularity, usually on a small scale, the reason for which is not apparent.
Since there were no skid marks from either vehicle, perhaps both parties are "responsible" for this horrible ACCIDENT. Obviously both sides will defend their loved ones, but both families will suffer severe pain for the rest of their lives.

To Andrews family, my son knew Andrew from school and was very sad to hear what happened. He said Andrew was a great guy and liked by many. As the mother of a teen driver, I can only imagine what you are going through. Our families prayers are with you. Having lost a brother in high school to a drunk driver, I know that the pain is unbearable, but, perhaps knowing that Andrew touched so many lives in a positive way will somehow help you get through this. It is apparent that he was a special person and will live on in the hearts of those that knew him.

I went to school with Andrew. and for you to come out and say something like this, is VERY disrespectful. We all know there was other people involved in this accident, but at this moment in time this article is about Andrew, the kid that lost his life. He may have ran the stop sign, but tell me how many ADULTS do that too. He made a mistake, that cost him his life, and now his friends, family, and close members of the community don't get to see him, talk to him, or even touch him for the rest of our lives. He got off easy? really? Dyin is easy? No where does it say that the other two people involved in this wreck will be handicapped for the rest of their lives, they could recover perfectly and have nothing wrong with them. So why don't you respect the people that knew Andrew and keep your Comments like this to YOURSELF. VERY DISRESPECTFUL.

Really? Was that necessery? There is a family grieving over the loss of an exceptional young adult, and you have the nerve to get up on your high horse and assume that you know exactly what cause this accident? You try to make it look like you are such a "concerned citizen" from behind your computer screen, but I highly doubt that you are a perfect person. You make mistakes and have accidents, fortunately for you, your accidents have not lead to your death. Be respectful of other, think about how your moronic words will affect the family and friends of this boy.

As for your comment about texting and whatnot while driving, how come when I am driving I mainly see adults and middle-aged people texting and driving with no regard for the other drivers on the road? Why is it that when the texting topic comes up everyone assumes its only the teenagers? Do you think that adults should be excluded from these rules? I dont think so. I think the adults should be held to a higher standard for this because they have been on the roads ALOT longer and should know better. Like I said above, maybe you should think about the comments you make before you make them, because you dont know how your words will hurt this family.

That isn't the point....Everyone and I do mean everyone makes mistakes or oversites. No one is perfect and there is a time and a place for your comments this is a country that allows its citizens to speak openly. It is just sad and disheartening that you don't know that this isn't that time. I feel sorry for you and I pray that whatever turmoil is inside of you is put to rest so you can make better choices of when to let your words be heard. If you are trying to make a positive difference intead of being resented...really rethink how you approach these very very sensitive issues. There are many peoples lives of the family and friends of all 3 people involved in this very sad tragedy. Please, please be respectful and even thoughtful of each of their needs and find a more positive way to share whats on your mind.

I know that many people are affected by poor choices. I was in a car accident caused by a drunk driver 22 years ago and I am handicapped and I walk with the aid of crutches. I have felt very fortunate to have had a life and didn't die. My life isn't lessened by my physical and mental struggles. I feel horrible that the words of "getting off easy" due to death were used...death is final and there are no second chances with death. We all make poor choices everyday...we are just very lucky that are choices don't always effect the course of peoples lives like this did...this could have easily happened to any one of us. Please remember how the words we use impact the people us. My prayers go out to all the people in this tragedy and that have and will be effected by it.

No one that has put their sympathy into words for the Hurd family has discarded the 2 other people and their families that were impacted by this horrible accident. I think you are trying to make something more out of the words being said than what there is. I have been the one in the hospital and in critical condition from an accident that wasn't my fault. I am disabled but I am alive and I am greatful. I will keep the men in the hospital and their families in my daily prayers. This accident has impacted many many lives and I do believe that if any of us had our eyes closed...they have truly been opened now by just how precious life is.

I didn't dislike Andrew. I didn't know Andrew. Nor do I know the the two survivors of the accident. What I do know however is that it was an ACCIDENT.
Now is not the time for blame and negativity. It is a time for healing. For the family and friends touched by this this. Also hopes and prayers for the men that survived this wreck.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the occupants in both vehicles. I did not know Andrew personally, but was overwhelmed by how many lives he has positively touched. He was obviously a very good-hearted young man who was loved by many. His family and friends are all suffering now with his passing. A few years back, I lost a nephew...and I recall all too well how painful that time was for everyone. In that regard, I feel compassion for the Hurd family and close friends of Andrew.

I also feel sympathy and compassion for the father and son (James and Daron Crainshaw) that were traveling on Four Corners Rd. Their respective family members and close friends are all in anguish now as well....as they closely monitor and pray for the recovery of their loved ones. Both sets of famillies and friends are suffering now because of this accident. I pray for all of them during this sad and painful time.
