Breaks my heart knowing that a sick individual could do such a thing. That man never bothered no one. I often stopped n gave him money. Regardless if anyone is tired of him gives them no right to set him on fire. You aren't feeding him or supporting him. Sorry but we all have our own story and no one knows why he's homeless or what kind of life he lived. My heart goes out to him. Keeping him in my prayers for a strong recovery.

A few days before this happened, the Norwalk city council was discussing the homeless problem, and they specifically mentioned this man. They said he was bad for business, aggressive, and refused help. They told residents to stop feeding him and to call the cops on homeless people in general. They specifically advocated continuous harassment by cops to tear down shelters, write citations, and look for illegal activity in order to arrest them. What kind of people do we have running this town? Their total lack of understanding and empathy for these people was astounding, Apathy and ignorance breed violence. I hope this will make the council rethink their policies on the homeless people in our communities. Homelessness is not a crime.

I saw this man many many times in Norwalk, never bothered anyone. He was no alcoholic and did not do drugs. I gave him food several times and he was very thankful. I wish I could find out where he is and what will happen to him once he recovers. People should treat homeless people with respect. No one knows why they get into these situations. Probably don't have any family members to help them. I wish the very best for this man.

Jami, you're a fool. Homelessness might not be a crime but trespassing is. If you're so friendly to the needs of the homeless, why don't you open your home to them? Offer them room and board? At least a shower and a place to stay and get warm for a few nights? No? No? Oh, you're one of the ones that toss them change or give them fatty, disgusting food and then swell with pride as you did something good, right? Right?
You're a fool.

I have seen this man daily. Never a problem, shame on the city for the way they handle the homeless problem. With the statement they made I hope some homeless organizations checks them out. I'm ashamed to say I live in Norwalk with a city council like we have.
