I was sent here back in 02- 04. They run the program like jail. They staff just watch the kids and put in punishment after the kids do something. No help unless the staff member themselfs love kids with a passion and most don't. It's just a job. They don't do anything when a kid gets hurt. There is no nurse of any kind. I was playing basketball with the staff an other kids. I jumped to blocked a staff member. Instead some how. He just ran me over and I landed on my head.... Next thing I know I woke up in my bed the next day with 2 (cat 3s) for not fallowing directions. The kids told me I played the rest of the game really sloppy an falling down a lot. After our PE was done in our room they said I started crying and asking who my dad was I couldn't remember anything from my life, my past, my family where I was from or anything. An they didn't even seek medical help for me. They just gave my consequences for my actions takin away pretty much what u have to work for there. I feel like that is really low u can't even get the kid help that might have amnesia. I also fell on my hand and busted my wrist. I couldn't use it for 3 weeks and after it healed it has a numb in it. They completely ignored it and the fact I couldn't use my hand. A staff member literally tried to trip me down a set of stairs. Because of a resent conflict between me and a kid in her group. Iv seen several kids leave puddles of blood after a staff member/s has used excessive force to (restrain) kids under 14. An Dan makes the kids do all the ranch work. From the birth of the new sheep to killing them and have us skin an gut them. We have to herd the sheep, an brand the cows. He uses the kids as his personal slaves the only thing u would ever get if u get anything would be a soda after u ate a pepper and the can was shaken an thrown somewhere for u to find. So not only is he getting paided for the kids to just sit on his ranch. But then he uses the kids to run his ranch. He has 3 Mexicans he pays nothing to do the rest. He's a slave owner. Instead of sending a kid here where they have to deal with a bunch of traumatizing Shit how about u just step in they're life more. be a real parent. Grow the fuck up take care of your kid you brought into this world. An yes there still times I have very vivid dreams of being there. An so happy after I wake up in my bed.

I wish these posts were available for me to read when my son was a this shity place in 1996-1997 and to think I took out a second mortgage on my home to pay for majestic. I was a desperate parent
trying to do anything I could to get my son to stop and take a look at where his life was going.
He got in trouble at school all the time and got in trouble with the law. Not real serious stuff but I could see more serious stuff coming down the road if he did not change his ways. I sent him to a very expensive private school in Vermont with 40 students before I sent him to the ranch, but he got kicked out in less than six weeks when they did a drug screening with all the students. When he was at home, he was tutored weekly, went to see a psychiatrist and psychologist weekly. We were very involved parents. In the winter of 2012, I got
a gut feeling that something bad happened to him while he was there. I asked him what happened and he said I will go to my grave before I will tell you. We flew to Salt Lake City and drove to see him as much as we could. When we were visiting, he never gave us any indication that anything was wrong. When he called home, the calls were listened too and if the conversation got too hot, the call was disconnected. I taped his calls and let my Mother listen to them, she got very upset and said I should not have sent him there. My Mother had better instinct than I at the time. I wish my Mother was here today so I could say you were right. Dan Peart, I hope your ranch fails miserably. You will get your dues, hopefully sooner than later.

You claim better places exist. Can you list their names? You also say you were there many years ago;how long ago? Thank you.

I to remember mike Harris. The place has gotten worse from the sounds of it. Dear god that place was a nightmare. Lets see some of the staff was mike bebe Diane cook. Mark whal. Lance whright. Alan and nancy Such. Greg Godar Dave -the other therapist. And the others I can't remember their names. A fellow student was John Montgomery , Joel mock , John moseby. Harold the clown who was a student that graduated turned 18 and became a staff. God he was a loser. Ted Redmond. I can't remember any more. But that place was hell. It's a dream of mine to kick Dan pearts ass. His wife Donna is no less guilty. Dan is a heartless degenerate excuse for a human being. Even his own brother Blair hates his guts. During a sheep trail drive from star valley to Randolph Blair Peart shot in the direction of a student with his 30-30. Director lance wright witnessed this and did nothing about it. Do not send your children to this hell hole. It's awful. Untrained staff. Their school was not accredited when I was there. I lost a whole year of schooling there. My email is [email protected] I hope someday to see that place Agian so I can see it shut down. And to Dan Peart if you see this I hope you burn in hell

i went to majestic for almost a year around 91. it was indeed a prison. the school was not accredited and my time there made it impossible to graduate high school. staff had no training - we had to live on 8 cents per person per meal- i saw "dave" the therapist once during my stay- lots of hard labor- bloody take downs- relentless solitary confinement- zero contact with parents- constant pressure to become a mormon- the towns people called us devil worshippers- when i came home i could stare at the wall for hours, so conditioned the long hours of boredom. there was no attempt at helping us to be better people. that place was a cash cow for the pearts and it screwed up alot of kids. i was there with harold mentioned above. he was caught molesting the houseparents one year old baby and sent back to the little kids house. i often wondered what happened to him later in life. he was the kind of kid you would imagine becoming a serial killer, unbelievable to hear they made him staff.
i have lots to say about majestic but no one ever asked. terrible place that was traumatic and tough to get over. made my transition into adulthood harder not easier. pointless abusive shithole. there main goal was to keep everyone there till 18 and many got stuck in that trap regardless of theyre level of so called rehab. it was known that you will not leave. my insurance ran out so i was luckily sent home after 11 months. it was really scary and i had no way to have uncensored conversation with my family.
i was there with- ross kulkin, jason labansatt, doogie howser, paul smith, big clint, matt hendrix, nate from seattle, rob, marine wannabe john. and yes harold. one kid was only 6 years old. fat jeff was the program director. dave was the nonexistant counselor.
the craziest part is my dad still doesnt believe me when i tell him about that place.

I was enrolled there from 2003-2005.(2 1/2 years) Now, there weren't always the nicest staff employed there, but there were a lot of staff that truly did care about the kids and their problems. When I was there, I certainly heard the occasional rumor about abusive or mistreatment of kids, but I never ended up seeing it, with the exception of some poorly chosen words by one executive with a temper issue.

Yes, we had to run laps around a field. Sure, we had to pull weeds on the weekend, but we also got to do and learn things that most people don't. Riding horses, going on sheep trails, docking, branding, lambing, taking care of animals .(I even got the opportunity to raise a few baby lambs). Really, if you and your team behaved, you got to do more fun stuff, if you misbehaved, you got more chores. It's not really so different than being with your own parents, except that you can't manipulate your way out of these chores.

Ok, the food wasn't the best, but we didn't starve. There were certainly times that we had gotten more food than we could eat.
From what I had heard back when the school was in Randolph, the conditions weren't as great, but once they moved outside the city, things improved. When I first arrived (March 2nd, 2003) there were 5 girls and 12 boys enrolled. There were only 5 buildings as well.(half of them were unused) When I left (September 5th, 2005), there were 25 girls, and 74 boys, and several new building had been created.

The forced labor thing is a bunch of crap, most of the kids jumped at the chance to go out and do ranch work. They got to eat dinner away from the ranch, and do something outside of the usual schedule. Otherwise, you would just be doing tons of schoolwork. Most kids left that school several months or even a year ahead in school, because of the school program there. Now I didn't try very hard when I was there, so I left in the same spot (which I now regret), but I could have finished much further ahead.

Really, to sum up Majestic: It had it's ups and downs, but overall, it was an amazing and life changing experience, and I am glad to have been there.

my name is nicole i was enrolled at majestic ranch for 31 months and finally was taken home by my parents. While i was there i experinced much of this "abuse". One day we did 27 laps in the hot sun for two in a half hours with no breaks around the big feild which is a little smaller then a foot ball feild. Many restraints led to injuries and sicknesses were not taken care of. We had small and poor living conditions and many times had to deal with the house parents dramma and own problems. Although there were many "smoking bans" we had easy accses to sigeretts lighters and even marjuana a few times. One of the pourposes of Majestic ranch was to help build self estem and to improve communication. While those things may very well have happend, staff were aloud to insult us on very many levels. There were also questions of sexual assult that were not taken seriously (if you want more information about this ask me personally.) Tammy and Wayne are, in my experince, extreamly manipulative and flat out liars. I hope that eny parents who are thinking about sending there children to majestic ranch that they tink twice and also realize there are many other faculities that are avaliable. If you want any information on specific inccodents of abuse of any kind or the living conditions i would be more then happy to give that to you. Like i said i was there for 31 months and i had much time to see the real inside life at Majestic Ranch. Dont get me wrong, it helped bothe my family and I very much, but i personally dotn feel that it is a safe place for any child to be placed at.

I attended Majestic ranch when I was 12 years old and I was pulled out of the program when I was 13... so i attended in 2003 I would say... The abuse, the torture, the pain was terrible... Even until this day it gets to me..... It made me heartless at such a young age... we were forced to do all sorts of things that we didn't want to do... little girls were getting restrained on the ground by Wayne who was around 6 foot something... she was only 7 years old.... After getting pulled out of the program I became worse.. the I ended up going to juvi and having a child..... The mental abuse was just as bad; leaning more towards worse than the physical abuse.... Our parents were brain washed.... if the card was too sweet and we sounded like we had changed... well it was a lie and we were "manipulating" them to pull us out the program therefore the needed to tell Tori or whomever and we would get punished or needed to be in the program longer..... if we cried to our parents about how bad it was in there... same thing... we were "manipulating"..... My relationship with my mother got worse..... I no longer cared about anything I did.... I went from a sweet innocent girl who had made one innocent mistake at 12 year old ... to a cold hearted monster.... If this cruelty of a place is still running; pull your children out asap!!! Dont let them suffer... they are only children and no matter how troubled they are... there are other solutions... I am now a mother and I would never put my child through this...The night mares never end..... Over the years I have managed to erase most my memory... Its something I never wanted to remember....

I was there from 04-06 I hated majestic ranch I can tell u this I would never send anyone there most staff there were physically and verbally abusive even sexually all of which had happened to me . Things got really bad when they went thru my personal journal and found out I was gay and I got beat pretty much the last year I was there every day once or twice and Mrs.Chris Adams told me the day before I left that hellhole. She was like if u don't shut up right now I will make sure you never leave I cussed her out up and down I am sorry being here just taught me ain't nobody gonna fix you but yourself and trust me these kids these days maybe bad but all they need is that taught love and a parent. I am will say I still have nightmares about this place and I will never forget the abuse I went thru that's for sure.

Just wanted to say my son was there when he was 13 years old for one year in 2002. He is now 20 years old. I really think it was a wake up call for him and me. We both grew and changed our own behavior, it was not just him. His self esteemed sky rocketed and has continued to since then. He has learned that things are not handed to him on a silver platter. But I also had to learn to not give him everything on a silver platter. I loved what he learned at Majestic Ranch and I think his experience was great. I think it is what you do with the tools you have learned that really matters.

I knew your son, if that's what you think, you need to ask him the rest of the story when he is ready.
The things he went through...I was actually surprised to see you posting he is doing okay outside of a mental hospital. He didn't catch the worst of it there, but pretty close.

Becky, I was there during that time. We have survivors groups on Facebook, your son does have a place he can talk about it. A place they understand, and know it as well as him.
I myself can tell you most kids will not talk to their parents on this, he sounds like he loves you, and you paid for the place, do you really think he wants you to feel guilty for what you could never have known you were sending him into? He won't tell you, and since he was around the same time as me I ...well it was not a fun era.

I was there from Oct 1994 to Sept 1995 were you there during that time?
That effing place was out of control I got slammed to the ground by the same house parent twice saw kids losing their minds on a daily basis had my roommate cut another kid in the hallway with a razor I could go on for hours . There were a few house parents that really truly cared , looking back that place was a joke it had a simple system to keep you there for as long as possible with little to no help , I actually went back there a few years ago when I was in Utah just to remind myself that I made it through a really bad time in my life no child deserves to be in conditions or be treated the way me and the other 30 kids did in the time I was there
