Section 4-
“A well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms cannot be infringed.”

It would seem as though government in New York believes itself to be above the law.

When suits revolve around money, you are 100% right. However, in this suit, the people may actually win. Of course we have to hope that the judge is not a "bought and paid for lackey of the Left" like too many judges seem to be from that area (and the Left Coast).
