This girls were pretty trashed when left the party at 1am. After they sue the LIRR (not enough signs warning people to cross at gates only i guess) I wonder if they're going to sue the parents that owned the house where these 16 year old children were drinking??

Why do parents allow their children to roam around at midnight. She was only 16. I would not allow my kids out at that time.

I heard they were all partying these four girls didnt want a ride home from another parent because they thought they would get into trouble so they walked and now looked one is dead.
Its a shame may she rest in peace.

sympathy to the family.
maybe there will be a lesson learned here...a shortcut isn't always the right way...and don't listen to your stupid friends, go with your own gut

Who walks across the tracks at midnight? Actually, who walks across the tracks at all? Bad actions cause bad consequences...this girl should have known better and I have not one ounce of sympathy for someone so stupid.

This is why they have changed all the LIRR crossings. People do not seem to be able to follow simple signs. They were walking on the tracks illegally. There is an OVERPASS there so that people can walk or drive safely UNDER. Walking on the tracks is stupidity to the max. I asked all my kids (all teens) about this, and they all know smart people DON'T walk on tracks. They've known this from a very young age. No judge should allow ANY lawsuits as this was sheer stupidity on the teen's part. I hope others learn from this, so something good can come out of it.

Post #1 has the answer Additionally, based on a number of posts to the original story when it first came out, 16-year olds out at that hour is normal. Similarly, some find nothing wrong with 15-year old girls getting pregnant.

There is something you might not be aware of: 16 year olds are people. This means that there are only so many restrictions you can place on them. Being raised by your own parents I'm sure (or at least hope) that you remember that you had free will and were not expected to follow everything they said to the letter. Accidents sadly enough, do happen. There is no - and I mean absolutely no - greater nightmare for a parent than having to bury their child. The grief is beyond all conceivable measure. My condolences the family of this young girl.

CONDOLENCES T TE VINCENT FAMILY ON THE LOSS OF THEIR BELOVED DAUGHTER JACKIE. HOPEFULLY A LESSON LEARNED COMES OUT OF THIS THAT TEENAGERS SHOULD NOT BE ON TRAIN TRACKS. TOO RISKY A SITUATION & THIS IS WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF THEY'RE NOT CAREFUL. LETHAL CONSEQUENCES. RIP JACKIE. P.S. TO JEROME A LOT IS TWO WORDS, NOT ONE. NOT THE PLACE TO CORRECT A SPELLING ERROR BUT JUST TO CLARIFY.

it is amazing that so many people live such perfect lives where everything fits into place and nothing goes wrong. or is it that you people would never admit it. it is easy to put others down when no one can actually see how you live. to those whose children are perfect... wow! or is it that you only know what they tell you. are you actually there to see what they are really doing regardless of the time that it is happening. i didnt think so. to those that have no sympathy for the family for their horrific loss of a child. poo to you. my condolences to the family and friends of this young girl.
