It seems from this article that all "poor" people are stupid young women with no education who hooked up with losers creating children they can't support. And taxpayers are suppose to feel sorry enough for them to not care that the govenment wants more taxes to support them.

I have been warning of this crisis since late 1980's, I predicted this would happen, I tried to voice my concern over and over, but I was called "crazy". What do you think welfare REFORM was all about? It was about tax credits for corporations ( "The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) promotes the hiring of individuals who qualify as members of target groups, by providing a federal tax credit incentive of up to $9,000 for employers who hire them." http://www.edd.ca.gov/jobs_and_Training/Work_... ) and creating enormous pool of cheap labor, so corporations get cheap labor and tax credits for hiring them! All while marketing to the public the stereo-typical image of the "welfare mom" for the public to buy-into corporate greed. Americans were stupid enough for fall for it, but not me, I saw right through it. We are now "walmart-nation", "god" bless the USA, lol. It backfired, now there are no jobs, so what now, even after corporations promised they would create jobs if their lobbyists could buy Washington???

This article is incorrect. There is no more "AFDC", it is now called "Temporary Assistance for Needy Families" or "welfare to work"...but there are no jobs! So welfare to??? Maybe it's the reporters that need to get an education????

If men in our society were held accountable, perhaps this wouldn't be such an issue? If the courts stayed out of the lives of women and children,(instead of destroying their lives with the "Fatherhood Initiatives" via welfare reform) then they would have more money for their kids. It's the system that is the enemy here

My son (one and only) is now grown, but this nation's family court system put him through absolute h*ll directly because of welfare reform and "fatherhood funding". The deadbeat never paid child support but the court system provided him with FREE lawyers (YOU ALL PAID FOR HIS LAWYERS), after he was absent for 10 years and decided he wanted to pop back into my son's life (and after he fathered 7 other kids from 4 other women (that last count), all (or have been) on welfare. Why wouldn't men (w/o a conscience) do this? After all, deadbeat dads are not held financially accountable in our sick society, in my opinion, AND the court-appointed "child's rights advocate" was also just a father's rights advocate in disguise that YOU ALSO PAID FOR, I believe he makes about approx.$50,000 a month for "advocating for fathers", mostly paid by tax payers?
The united states family court system (in SB COUNTY) is directly responsible, IMO, via fatherhood funding, for destroying my son's life, imo. He was a happy-go-lucky child, was getting straight A's in school, we were a happy family...UNTIL the government's corrupt fatherhood funding got a hold of my son! My son dropped out of school and went downhill, badly. My son wanted NOTHING to do with his deadbeat, but the courts kept forcing the deadbeat on him, and made me out to look like the enemy, to my son! My son saw right through their B.S. and MY SON fought the system, but that is a heavy burden for a kid. The family court system kept putting my son through h*ll until my son turned 18, aged out. It financially destroyed our family. My "child's advocate", Father's Rights Attorney in disguise, fined me $2,000 because I had a problem with him showing up on CHRISTMAS to interrogate my son a and try to force the deadbeat on my son that day (this Attorney was divorced, go figure, lol, and his kids lived up her with their mother, and he used my case as a "business reason" to come up here on Christmas, perhaps your tax money paid for it too).

Your tax money is destroying the lives of children, via corrupt welfare REFORM and fatherhood funding/faith-based funding! Now we have no money, the courts "raped" it from us, and we could end up on welfare, thanks to welfare REFORM. imo.

My, now adult, son would be happy to prove it all to you, we kept all the documents!

Boo hoo, if you are poor, guess what...it's your own fault. If you pumped out crumb crunchers like a human photocopier, and now you are having problems, and the baby daddy ain't paying, I don't feel sorry for you, not even a little. Wherever you are in life is a result of YOUR own decisions. I sure wish we could eliminate welfare, WIC, Section 8 housing, and eliminate these losers from sucking up tax dollars from hard working Americans.

I would bet that welfare REFORM is costing tax payers a lot more (with fatherhood funding and family court corruption, and tax credits for corporations to hire cheap labor provided by former welfare moms, etc.) than traditional welfare did (even with the waste back then). More importantly, welfare REFORM is destroying the lives of children. It destroyed mine, and I know we are NOT the only ones.

You people wonder why our economy is so bad? then you need to educate yourself on welfare REFORM, the way it was done only contributed to our economic crisis. I would bet that welfare REFORM is costing tax payers a lot more (with fatherhood funding and family court corruption, and tax credits for corporations to hire cheap labor provided by former welfare moms, etc.) than traditional welfare did. Welfare REFORM is destroying the lives of children. It destroyed mine, and I know he is not alone. Here is more of what your tax dollars are going to:

Tax money was taken from single moms and their children...to criminal fathers, and those who "advocate" for them. Single moms were sent to work at places like Walmart/McDonald's (except those that are REALLY good at working the system, which is a problem across the board, across racial/gender lines), while the criminal fathers are treated like royalty if they even just show up to take their kid to the park once a week, and kid are FORCED, even against their will, to see them, no matter how bad the deadbeat is, and the mother is made to look like the enemy (using phony "parental alienation" claims against her, no matter how good of a mother she may really be. Forget deadbeat dads taking financial responsibility, fathers are no longer held financially accountable for their children. Mothers are just told to get two/more jobs and make the kid suffer as a latched key kid, it's all about the deadbeat dad now, it's ALL about the criminal deadbeat dad, feeling sorry for him. Who cares about the kid! Your tax money is paying for this nonsense, this waste!

Tax money funded a system that destroyed my son's life, and financially ruined us, along with a corrupt court system. Now that it is over, and my son is 21 years old, all my son ever wanted to do was to go to college, now there is no money for that, it ALL went to fight the government's Father's Rights Movement within the courts!

Thanks deadbeat (who still live sin SB County) for destroying your own son's life and that of his future! What is sad is that our nation's policies STILL contribute to scum like you, at tax payer's expense! My son is now 21 and he STILL wants NOTHING to do with his deadbeat, yet the courts spent YOUR tax money for 18 years to TRY to make a case that I was "alienating" my son from his deadbeat, while putting my son through h*ll! It has permanently destroyed him, all of us! We have been "raped" financially by the court system, and may now end up on welfare. You'll be paying for us because of the the United States court system! Just my opinion anyway!

Ken, if this is the type of country that you support, then fine, but I have the right to speak the truth and warn people. What if this happens to YOUR daughter??? or YOUR granddaughter??? I was date-raped at 15 years old, in my opinion, and that is how I "pumped out crumb crunchers" (as you so intelligently worded it, lol. SB county never protected my son, never protected me (they did the opposite, they destroyed us, imo), they only protected the deadbeat...while he continued to "father" baby after baby, mother after mother...and to my knowledge still is!

Two comments, so far, on this board, besides my own...they are both BY MEN, MALES, and BOTH are disrespectful against poor women, and solely blame women...they both dismiss the men who impregnated them. America has a very sick culture, sexism is deep-rooted in mentality and in public policy (which has only become worse) and that is why we have the problems that we now do!

My son is an adult now, he would be happy to prove what I have said, we kept all the documents. What he has gone through, what the United States court system has put him through, should be considered criminal. In my opinion. But no, it was all in the name of "fatherhood funding" and welfare "reform" and "faith-based funding"....so thank you conservatives for destroying my son's life, for destroying all of our lives. The deadbeat could not have done it on his own (he couldn't have destroyed his own son, and the rest of us, on his own), he couldn't have done it without your help and your taxes, your programs, your SB County courts.

If you think things are desperate now in SB County, wait till Mr Obama pulls the plug on Dick Cheney's jackass oil war (12 billion per month). Ft Irwin, MCLB, 29 Palms, and all the other less-obvious defense spending in this county is about all that is left. The job losses in both the public and private sectors are semi-permanent. In 1974, I watched in horror as Boeing laid off 80,000 people one Friday afternoon near Seattle. It was many years before the damage was repaired, and it changed the local psyche forever. Government must acknowledge that it is the employer of last resort, and the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act of the 70's should be dusted off, funded and get most of us back to work. Section 8 HUD housing programs should be funded based on demonstrated need, not just how big the bandaid will be this year. The sooner we begin, the fewer permanent casualties we will suffer. If definitive and immediate action is not taken for relief, recovery, and reform, we risk the polarization and radicalization of a critical mass of our citizens that will make political solutions unavailable. 1917 is here again, and the Rethuglican ideologues have their collective heads in the sand. The current majority in the Congress must do what must be done and stop worrying about the 2010 elections. If the lobbyists win this battle, we will all lose bigtime.

To blame "men" for problems that women create for themselves is ridiculous. If woman has a problem in her life, all she needs to do is look in the mirror. Stop blaming so-called deadbeat dads. The majority of men pay they support, as I did till my kids were 18, but that's not the point. Child support, or more aptly named ex-wife support (no I don't mean alimony either) is not going to fix anything for women. Stop having kids if you can't afford them.
To the crazy woman that has been ranting to no end, get some psychological help. Stat! You have to be the biggest loser I've ever read. I could go on to explain to you why you are a loser, but I think you did a pretty good job of it yourself.

That's why I am glad I popped out all my crumb crunchers with a white guy who has a job. He pays for his kids, and judging by the amount of taxes he pays, a lot of other people's kids, too.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Do not overspend on redecorating. Say as little as possible and concentrate on matters in hand. Someone you care about will be erratic and eager to pick a fight. To move that great idea, you need to talk to the big spenders. Run the idea by them and see if you cannot get a backer and a partner for your concept.
