Dear Editor,
It is truly sad that the Humboldt Beacon has ceased publishing. I recall it was in 1940 when I first observed the Beacon. My family was a new arrival in Fortuna.
It was with me in later years when I was in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and again when I was in the U.S. Air Force. Only I, will ever know how important it was to receive a copy of the Beacon in Adak, Alaska.

Someone needs to start an online paper in fortuna then go county wide .And push the substandard out of business.....
