Our Chief of Police seems to have his prioritys out of order. Sallisaw Chief Edwards seems to think that having 9 officers on days and three at nigt is a good thing. The day shift has three officers, three detectives and three school resource officers. The night shifts are made up of three officers per shift. Now how is this good coverage for the citizens of Sallisaw. I think having a Police Officer in the school is a good thing but three now come on. these other two officers could be sent to the night shift to help cover. Yes I have been told that they have officers in a academy, but would it be better to have good coverage while they are there. I remember about five years ago when we had four officer out on every shift to work our city streets. Then the new chief came and we went to three. Now look at our city, we are over runned with property theft and burglary's. The Chief seems to be more concearned with his own priorty's then ours. I believe after speaking with school employee's that one officer in the school would be suffecient thought they like haveing officers around after finding out what they are there for they think that that one would do. Were not Van Buren and one officer can teach what needs to be taught in the school system not to mention that he has his hand this thing they call a coalition of wich they employee two people. One of them is a retired teacher and there job is also to teach drug programs to the youth. So this means five people he has managed to get into his priorty's. I believe that youth is our future and that we need to do what we can to suppoort them but he has gone over board with this. One officer could do the job if he likes the school so much maybe he should go back to Van Buren. He is only doing what is best for him not the city of Sallisaw. If thats not good enough then look at his priorty's since he has been Chief he has been driving three new vehicle's. Thats just since he was elected, then he passed them down after he put miles on them. he had an expedition, a ford pickup, and now a new chevy pickup. Yes the officers are in new cars but what about the few old ones that he could have replaced with two of his new ones. Why could he not drive the very first new vehicle he purchased in stead of passing them down when he was tired of them. Every one is down on the new sherrif you expect it in the first year but for five years straight. You know if he bought his self three new vehicle's then he has purchased stuff for his benifit and not the officers. Again we are not Van Buren, look at the cars, they are some what simuliar, badge identical, well somethings are god but come on. He needs to put more on the street and less for his benefit. This is just a few things you can see on the surface what do you think is under neith all this.

I think Leo is right if the school has a problem or need an officer they will call them. One would be fine.

He's only Chief of Police because of his mother. She is a good woman but if it wasn't for her he would not be the Chief!

everyone that works for the county or the city is corrupt. from the top dog right down to the smallest peon. and that little short squatty city manager bill baker is the most corrupt of all. he is worse than lockhart if that is possible.
that is exactly why i will be voting no in the election.

Why not call the school a prison and be finished with it. The school has more guards than a prison.

you mean the cars paid for by grants that didn't cost the taxpayers a cent? I can garuntee you that the percentages of crimes solved by these "wasted officers" is nearly twice that of any surrounding city or of the county for that matter. if you don't agree with his policies thats fine but don't run down the men and women out there protecting your behinds.

The guys are not the problem. Its the Chief. Ya the cars they were purchased by the city not a grant. The only grant money the city buys vehicle's with is the fire dept. The officers are busy just talk to them theyll tell how short handed they are. Ask any of them.

that, in itself, explains so much. i'll go ahead and explain this once, and try to wrap your drug fried brain around this, i am a resident of sallisaw. it shows tulsa as my hometown because that is where my internet service is routed out of. now stop playing on the computer and go break some more laws. i hate that the internet has cut into your busy, deviant schedule. i'm sure the hour that it probably took you to type that cut little triad cut into your drug usage considerably so go catch up on that now and leave the conversation to those of us who are paying taxes to provide you with housing and foodstamps.

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Virgo

If the past few days have been a blur of cooking, washing up and wrapping paper, take a break today and catch up with loved ones. Have a long talk with one of them so you can find out what they've been doing lately, or discuss a topic that concerns both of you. Right now, you're blessed with plenty of diplomacy so the conversation should go well.
