The update on this is so tragic and sad,may they rest in peace. I just wonder if there are any more missing people out there stuffed into hollowed out trees, here or in Colorado, and if the authorities are looking to send cadaver dogs in those woods to see. Just a thought, since he seems to have done this so methodically.

This is my home town, so I am saddened by the news that perhaps we knew we would eventually hear. I know the cut and culture of the good people that live there and I know they hurt.
I am angered at the Colorado Justice System for allowing a man who burnt people from their homes and destroyed millions of dollars of property was allowed his freedom.
I am humbled by the Sheriff and his staff and all the professionals and volunteers who burnt the midnight oil to work through this tragic loss.
My Prayers To All!
I am so very sorry for this tremendous loss. Your town showed such class, dignity, and compassion. Prayers overflow for your community.

My sympathies to the survivors of this horrible tragedy. It is very sad :(

I haven't had a chance to read all of the threads about this case, I stumbled upon this one first. Has it been reported what led them to this guys house?

May grace and strength shine upon the families and the community.

Is there any speculation on how this little demon overpowered four people? I think since the guy loves trees, he should be yanked out of his cell and hung from the highest tree in Ohio. God bless and take care of the victims and their families.
I would say directly over a tree chipper. Then you fire it up, and let a family member lower him in..... I know, gruesome - but I go Old Testament in a case like this - eye for an eye.

They are watching him because he has threatened to hurt himself. Why do we do this? It's like a rat in your house. He is like a rat in your house. It feeds off its surroundings, does nothing but crap all over the place, and all you want is to remove it from your life. If the rat decides to jump into a bucket of bleach and kill itself, I'm not going to stop it so I can catch it and decide its fate. I say jump on in and take the burden off me and my family. The problem is solved a lot quicker and costs me a lot less money!

<quoted text> "please don't judge so harshly" Are you serious? What about my comments so far as been "so harsh"? Am I supposed to be nice to the commenters on this website who have never come close to experiencing what this child has lived through? Oh, I am so sorry if I insulted Lolita Shih Tzu. Wah.'Cuz she is not tied up in my basement, and her family is not dead and stuffed in garbage bags in a tree. I mean, really, I am actually a pretty reasonable person most of the time. I have a job, and my husband has a job, and we have health insurance, and my daughter makes at least the merit roll every grading period. And one of my sons was a National Merit Scholar and is now in a position to decide whether you get, well, power, or not. And my other son is a United States Marine who served in Iraq. And I vote Democratic, and will until the day I die. So Lolita, what are the skeletons in your closet that make you think I should be, I don't know what, less "judgemental" about this situation, or that I should maybe even blame this poor little blonde girl for her fate? So Lolita, are you a brunette and **** about that? Oh, I am so sorry if I "offended" anyone. And I admit that I, at the moment, am behaving in a way that I normally find abhorrent. But everybody who has commented on this, no matter what their agenda, or their political party, or their employment status, or their family status, needs a reality check. Three people are dead, and one little girl has lived a nightmare, and will live that nightmare for the rest of her life. If you have lived such a nightmare and are, at the age of, say, 60, living in denial about that, that does not change this child's experience (or your own -- find a therapist).

OMG! What a tragedy. I have been following this story and I cried when I heard they 3 were dead. My heart goes out to the family and that poor little girl who survived. I only hope to God she did not witness the death of her mom, brother and friend. I am praying for her.

NO DEAL for this murderer!
IF the death penalty was not droppped (or could be dropped) from the charges in a plea deal by the police, prosecutor, attorneys and possibly with the victims family members okay, how would YOU have found the bodies for closure ?

It is a tough call. The pervert was clever and planned everything. Nobody would have found them without his information. If there was a plea deal, I hope the families of the victims were consulted before.
