Houston vet's adrift sailboat towed back to Galveston
A 32-foot sailboat drifting in the Gulf of Mexico since last Tuesday when a Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued its injured occupant was towed into Galveston shortly before noon today, ending a search that had covered more than 100 miles of open sea.

Thank you Coast Guard... I was concerned when I heard that this 80 year old veteran was living on his boat,(and then, after his rescue, in a shelter for the homeless). I understand, his life's total accumulated assests and provisions are his boat and it's contents.
I now just hope he doesn't loose it all - from not being able to pay for his rescue, and for his boat's recovery.
I don't know about the rest of you, but to me... an 80 year old setting off to cross the Gulf alone on a 32 footer, to reach Mexico - it sounds like he someone should be offering him a book deal and movie rights...

I agree, Capt John.
