These constant military checkpoints make me feel like I live in a 3rd world country. Hey Vallejo PD, get off your butt and start patrolling and pulling over people who are actually breaking the law. Knock it off with the weekly military check points. I'm tired of being treated like we live in a war zone.

Wanna know whats messed up is while all those police officers are at the checkpoints they aren't out patrolling the streets like they should be doing. With the limited staff that the vallejo police have I would think that they would be out doing their jobs. My dad called 911 the other night because a group of holligans surrounded his car started hitting it, opened the passenger and assaulted his girlfriend. He called 911 and it was an hour before any officers responded to his call, and to top it off they said there was nothing they could do... So comeon WTF Vallejo Police Dept...

Lesson #1, do not sit in your car in Vallejo. Especially at night. This city belongs to the hooded goblins.

Let me guess.....Sonoma Blvd??? It's the worst kept "undisclosed" secret in Vallejo. Everyone knows where it's going to be- drunk drivers included.

I called VPD the other day (911) someone jumped the fence of a buisiness after hours, VPD was there in 5 minutes, took care of buisiness. For some reason your story doesnt seem kosher.

Checkpoints recieve outside funding, its not like there are no cops patroling the streets, there are.

I like the checkpoints, they work!!!!!

Its really simple. No one can protect you like you can protect yourself. Cops show up to take reports, take pictures and collect evidence.

Protect yourself at all costs.

I seen a lady driver brake hard to avoid hitting several black teens crossing the street. They stopped in front of her car and began taunting her, dancing, then spit on her windshield. Another time my friend was driving down Grant st. and had to stop due to a dozen black youth in the middle of the street. Suddenly they were standing on the hood of his car jumping up and down like monkeys. Yes run them over!

This is becoming a common technique. Sauntering across the street, mid-block, in a pack. It's a fear tactic, designed to get you to stop your car, at which point you've put yourself at a disadvantage. Drug dealers do it on the 200 block of Arkansas, it happens on Grant and Sheridan just of Magazine, and also in the 200 Block of Mark Avenue off Griffin Drive/Gateway in the Crest. It's aggressive turf-defining behavior, and motorists need to just not stop, or else they will become victims of one crime or another. Certainly if at any point your car is surrounded and you become the center of attention, leave immediately. You might get a dented hood or a broken mirror, but that a lot less worse, in the scheme of things. Realize that by the time the police arrive, all the varmints will have skedaddled back to their respective burrows to hide, because, basically, they are individual cowards. Punks.

I think that Solano County needs to start letting law abiding, trained citizens apply for and recieve concealed carry permits. Then when some black hoodie assaults a law abiding citizen in thier vehicle and gets shot in the face with a large caliber handgun, other black hoodies will hear about it and think twice. Problem solved.

Smug Miss Chrissy is assuming, incorrectly, that I or other folks are by necessity finding themselves in these neighborhoods because we're there to buy drugs. "Au Contraire", Missy. Maybe we live around there too? And perhaps we should be able to come and go freely anytime of the day or night without being challenged by street predators? You think that's funny? That after dark the good folks should just go home so the denizens of the night came come out waylay passing strangers? Think about yourself in different circumstances. I don't always appreciate cops, especially when I'm getting a ticket. Nonetheless, it is a thin blue line keeping order. Some of us don't want to end up like Oakland, Compton, Visitacion Valley, Cabrini Green or North Philly. Don't make assumptions about our purposes, and we won't make assumptions about your, um, English.

Chrissy, You are an idiot if you think that going places with your head "held high" is going to protect you.

Why do you stick up for the scumbags? It's the hoodie's choice to go out and break into somoneone's car/home to assult somone, who cares if they get shot?
