We NEED this here.. people are suffering the kids are suffering. PLEASE open your heart and consider this. the crime rate WILL go down. That is a guarantee. At this time its our only option, help these people. Addiction is a disease. But they are still loving and caring people, most of them have kids. if not for them for there kids.

You just compared something like a cocaine addiction to cancer. My brain just exploded. My ghost is now typing this message.

This guy is obviously a drugger. A Methadone clinic is just a way for druggers to get a high for free and legally. Tired of stealing to get high? Another freebie on the tax payers' back is not the solution.

Btw, being a junkie is not a disease. How can you even dare make the suggestion that being a drugger is the same as having cancer? You are a piece of trash.

I would much rather a "drugger" get help through a suboxone clinic than break into my house and steal everything i own or possibly harm myself or my children.

Agreed we do need a rehab center here. Why not take one of the high schools that are sitting here rotting. Set the rooms up for board for the ones detoxing, and some rooms for counseling and activities. And use the cafeteria to feed the clients. We have what we need. If i were to ever win the lottery id plan on doing this. I have thought about it. And with everyone in the community tired of this im sure that ppl would donate to keep it going and dr's and nurses donate time. This is crucial to our town or this will never be more than it is.

That's a pretty good idea. There was something in the Herald about some group trying to help with drug issues.

that is what vinton babptist church is trying to do with the old north gallia high school..It was even in time magazine,, the problem is it all takes money to accomplish.Money that IS NOT handed over by the tax office like was mentioned earlier,,,, addiction is not like cancer but it is still a disease and if you wish not to believe that surely everyone would agree it is a problem in our community like many others....An affordable rehab would be nice to have in our community and vbc is working on it... they have a website,, i believe it is listed as gallia strong tower

Drug addiction leads to so many other crimes that maybe we should look to our elected officials and ask what they are doing in an effort to correct this... theyre getting paid to lead our community so they should look into grants to help those in need, look at helping groups that are trying to educate the young and help those that are addicts instead of turning our backs on them and pretending it doesnt affect us because it affects the entire area now.

Drug addiction is a disease!!! Ask any doctor!!! But yes something def needs to b done. It's getting worse n worse n I'm sure will only continue to do so! The law needs to start actually doing their jobs n maybe that would help matters some!! But instead they choose to harass people who they know will pay their tickets over traffic bs!!! I would also like to know how they can know the ones who have always sold drugs but yet miraculously they never ever get caught!!! Those whole town is corrupted!!! But handing out methadone or suboxone isn't going to do anything neither. Like the one person said they just take their medicine n sell it! Unless you made them take it directly in front of you would probably b the only way to ensure it wasn't just getting sold for the next fix. Even if there was a center here where they could detox n rehabilitation it would have to be like a 6 month program to actually expect them to stay clean. Regardless of how anyone feels its the addicts that have to be the ones to actually want to be clean and sober! No judge, family member, or friend can make them!

Well I can honestly say I have had cancer and had to deal with a kid that was an addict and raised grandkids. The answer is not a methadone or suboxen clinic but a rehab like the salvation army has. I believe the Vinton Baptist is on the right track. Believe it or not I know they can't stop even though they know it is wrong. So happy my child turned around and hope that Gallipolis open their eyes before it gets worst.

salvation army is not the answer. i know from experience with a famy member. drugs are terrible in there. they do not drug test u as often as they should. never send a person there. if u r not strong enough u wont make it there. they only care about the work u can do for them.

A Methodone clinic is not the answer for the drug problem in Gallia County-this will only a clinic where they can get the Methodone drug to help with addition instead od getting it on the street. they it hand it out to thoses who sign up on a program. they also have to seek treatment and how of thoses drug additced people to think seek the treatment programs for drug addition. the answer is to stop it before it starts. parents need educated on signs and sysptoms of drug use and how to reconize it in thier own kids. Parents who use are likely to have kids who use. kids who have friends who use are more likely to use themselves. it is more than just a clinic that is needed! it begins at home and parents who know there kids are on drugs and do nothing should be legally held accountable!

Yes the Salvation Army DOES help & I know this from personal experience but it takes alot more than just a meeting place. It takes at least a year to go through the whole process & it seems you have to be in trouble with the law to get help. It should not come to that. I definately believe Gallia needs an in-house facility but people must be prepared to have your heart broken to entrust the people to help your loved ones. It's not an easy road!!!!!
