don't be so desperate to take things. i know someone who took fen phen, and had a heart attack. she lost TONS of weight and looked really good, but looking good ain't all that if it's in a casket. hey, you know that diet people have to follow for the rest of their lives after they have gastric bypass? try that! these things are for people who don't have success with dieting and exercising.

"Dizziness, dry mouth, difficulty sleeping, irritability, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: fast/irregular/pounding heartbeat, mental/mood changes (e.g., agitation, uncontrolled anger, hallucinations, nervousness), uncontrolled muscle movements, change in sexual ability/interest.
Stop taking this medication and seek immediate medical attention if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur: severe headache, slurred speech, seizure, weakness on one side of the body, vision changes (e.g., blurred vision).
This drug may infrequently cause serious (sometimes fatal) lung or heart problems (pulmonary hypertension, heart valve problems). The risk increases with longer use of this medication and use of this drug along with other appetite-suppressant drugs/herbal products. If you notice any of the following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking this medication and consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately: chest pain, difficulty breathing with exercise, decreased ability to exercise, fainting, swelling of the legs/ankles/feet.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist."

i think you should definitely see a dr for it. your dr should know you're taking it. the fen phen had similar side effects and lack of studies. people were driving to other states to buy it. people went crazy over it because it helped people lose weight and all they had to do was sit on their asses. you should be very careful when it comes to taking something that could affect your heart.

I see that there is some negative thoughts on this subject. This is just one opinion from someone who has had experience with them. I have taken adipex several times. I did not have any bad side effects from them. I was under the care of a doctor who always checked my heart, blood pressure, etc. The worst side effects are severe dry mouth and constipation. If they are taken as directed, 1 per day, they are VERY effective. I would not recommend someone who has high blood pressure taking them. Unlike over the counter diet pills, they do not cause jitters. You will notice a more energetic feeling but its not a nervous feeling. Plus, if you take them daily, you will notice that it does lessen as they get into your system. The most spectacular thing about them is that they help you control your appetite. This is just my experience with them, and I do not know of anyone having any major issues with them.

@Doctor Do you just call and make an appointment for weight loss or how do you go about it? Is he a general practitioner? I used to get them from another Dr, and I just called and said it was a weight loss appointment. So I just wondered if it is the same for Dr. Ellison

just use good judgement. there are lawsuits for this medicine just like there were lawsuits for the phen fen. it's not good for your body. i don't care what anyone says. if anyone decides to go this route, please let this be a last resort if for SOME reason diet and exercise don't work. you have to work at this weight loss thing in order to get the results you want. the harder you work at it, the better the results will be. don't take a medicine that can harm you if you're not willing to do the work in the first place. that's cheating. in this way...this kind of cheating can do a lot of damage to your body. please use caution.

i'm not the only one who posted negative about this. the opinions i have concern the safety of other women as a whole. i DO NOT have experience with taking diet pills myself. i've never taken a diet pill in my life. my mother is the one who almost died. this was very scary for me. i did educate myself on the subject because of what it almost cost me. there are MANY people who have died from this and other pills like it. there are MANY people who have suffered heart attacks. i guess you have to ask yourself if the risks are worth it. to me, the health risks far outweigh the goal of losing weight "quickly." i just wish for everyone to consider these things first before they make a decision to do something that can hurt them.

If u r truly overweight and u would benefit from the medication, then i would say almost any dr would prescribe them. But not if you dint need them and are just looking for a buzz.
