Synthetic Marijuana

I've re-posted this from the "marijuana" thread because it has nothing to do with the legality of marijuana, rather I'd like people's opinions of the synthetic stuff. Not looking for a bunch of BS; I'd really like to know other people's experiences.

(Quote: Off topic a little, but while we're on the subject of marijuana..... I have several friends who like to get high but are drug tested by their employers. For approximately three years, these friends have been smoking herbal incenses and/or spice (potpourri) because they don't show up on drug tests. These people used to smoke marijuana but now only smoke the synthetic stuff. The friends who smoke the synthetic stuff say that it's really a lot stronger than marijuana and that they prefer it. This is all and good, but, there are virtually no statistics regarding health effects of long term use of synthetic. Some people report panic attacks, vomiting, auditory hallucinations, rapid heart beat, on and on. Personally, I have smoked the stuff numerous times and have never experienced any of these symptoms. BUT, my point is, do we really want our youth smoking synthetic (and certain formulas are legal in Ohio - formulas get outlawed and the makers just change one ingredient and it's a new formula - can be bought at gas stations, convenient stores, especially tattoo parlors and adult stores.

If we legalized marijuana, maybe people wouldn't be so desperate. I know from personal experience that marijuana is not addictive (maybe psychologically addictive but not physically). My friends who are smoking the snythetic will smoke nothing but that, and absolutely CRAVE it when they're out. I'm beginning to think this stuff is physically addictive. If you want to know about synthetic marijuana, just google it, and you'll find out all kinds of info. regarding it.

I'm asking you MJ users, have you tried the synthetic and if so, what was your experience? Some of the blends are man-made, some are totally herbal, listing the ingredients (plants, herbs, and flowers) that are contained in the packet. You can look all the ingredients up on the internet; they're all flowers and/or plants that can be grown in your own backyard. The ingredients to make the natural stuff (flowers/plants/herbs) are all available in bulk from the internet. Also, all sorts of synthetic buds and incenses are readily available over the internet. I know people who have literally spent thousands of dollars on this, yet they would have spent more if they bought MJ.

What do you guys think? This may seem like a passing fad, but this fad is an epidemic. And people gripe about putting MJ in our systems. Also, there IS a city ordinance within the City of Gallipolis, that prohibits the sale of K2, spice, or any type of synthetic stuff, however, it is readily available outside of the county. People who live outside of the city limits could make a killing selling this stuff, but here in this small town and in the bible belt, people are afraid to rock the boat so to speak. Daydreams/Night Things used to sell synthetic - and millions could have been made if the Powers that Be in Gallipolis had left that business alone.)End quote.

Well look at it this way. People die on the synthetic stuff but not on the natural stuff. You also don't know what you're getting with the synthetic. It's imported into the U.S. but the FDA never does a full examination of it to see what's in it. Most countries have already outlawed the synthetic , even the ones who have legal marijuana, so that shows that something about it just isn't right.

Yeah, I have never known anybody to OD on the natural marijuana. They may wear the hinges off the refrigerator door, but that's about it.

I have one friend in particular who seems to be addicted to the synthetic. He doesn't smoke the real stuff because of drug testing but smokes the hell out of the incense. Any brand, any type, any flavor. Whenever he's out, he'll drive any number of miles to get it. It's not so readily available to people in this county so you have to travel to get it.

I've been searching the internet looking for articles on the long term side effects of smoking incense, but the information is very limited, as there have been virtually no studies done on it yet. As a past reader of High Times, I know that this stuff has been around for years, but only recently in the past couple of years has it been such an issue.

My friend won't slow down or quit no matter what, and I'm worried about him. He states he's been hearing voices and I'm afraid he's fried his brain on this shit.

Sounds to me like you need to do something to help your friend. Maybe you should tell his family or try to convince him to seek help. That's scary.

Am working on this friend; he's at least psychologically addicted. My advice to partiers and pot smokers, stay away from the synthetic stuff and all the chemicals.

stay away from that stuff, it is laced with major hallucinogens, I know of several teenagers who have had bad reactions to this. Some adults too and a few of them have been sent to rehab, some have come home some are still there in a mindless state. Something to do with bath salts being in this stuff as well as just the bath salts themselves. It says not for human consumption on the package. This stuff needs to disappear! Period!!!

I HOPE THEY DISAPPEAR TOO! This incense and potpourri, spice, herb, whatever they call it, really messes with a person psychologically. I know for a fact that this stuff effects you negatively. I have never been a drug addict, only a parttime pot smoker. Then this synthetic crap came along. I used it, I abused it, I spent too much money on it, and it darn near destroyed me. I have a friend, as I mentioned before, who is, I believe, addicted to it. This person used to smoke pot, but due to being drug tested only smokes the synthetic stuff now. He has been hearing voices, yet he refuses to believe that this stuff is responsible for it. He's never had any psychiatric problems before. Nobody I know has ever experienced these types of symptoms on natural marijuana.

My friend is buying this stuff from the Adult Porno store on Route 35 in WVA, at Fraziers Bottom. They call it Kush.

EVERYBODY STAY AWAY FROM THIS STUFF!!!! And pass this news along. This stuff is legal in Ohio (though some small cities have ordinances against it), but it is totally illegal in the state of West Virginia.

There are several videos on youtube of people recording while they smoke it. It has been about a year since I watched them but none of it was very good, people flipping out. Marijuana made me a little paranoid at first but nothing like I watched on those videos.

No one knows what the synthetic "marijuana" is made from. Probably a bunch of poisons slapped together, much like meth.

I don't know much about the cultivation of true marijuana but most growers and/or smokers have high standards. Miracle-gro is a nono, for example. They want their product to be "pure" in a sense of not smoking commercial fertilizer.

Now, you get that herb from out of the country where the focus IS on the $$$$$$$$$$ then you have to worry about slapstick production with focus on quantity not quality or people who just do not know wtf they're doing.

But About a year ago i had a real problem with this stuff. I had switched from mj to spice because it was easier to find. But i eventually realized when i was starting to buy two to three packages every 2 days. Its a glorious high tho. I literally smoked the stuff all day and night.. And when i didnt i was sick. This stuff is dangerous if you dont know what your doing or arent used to it. I hope this helps

I smoke weed all the time and I was afraid to try the other because of all the bad stories I was hearing. Then I mixed a little bit of it with my weed and I tested positive for PCP 3 weeks later. So I know it has that in it. That test cost me a doctor. To scary for me. Dognapper

Trust me on this one people. I have been there and back with the synthetic crap. I have spent literally thousands of dollars on an addiction that nearly destroyed my life. I've watched it destroy a couple. The stuff is addictive and you fiend for it like crack. It's the most intense high I've ever had and I've done my share of recreational drugs during the 70's, 80's and 90's. It is not a good buzz. I've never sniffed glue or huffed paint, but I feel like it's a buzz akin to that. May as well snuff lighter fluid! Well, maybe not that extreme, but please, I'm telling you, that stuff is no good. The thing getting you high is the chemicals sprayed on the herbs and you just don't know where those chemicals are being made. They could be made in somebody's bathtub or garage. Ya just never know.

I hope anybody who wants to get high sticks with the natural stuff. The bad thing for spice smokers is that after you've smoked a good bit of it, you can't get high on weed anymore. You just don't think it will ever happen again. I'm here to tell you that I've been clean of the shit since around February of this year (after smoking large quantities of it for a good solid three years) and I've never felt better. The withdrawals when I quit this time were practically non-existent. I had quit a year ago for a period of about 4 months and experienced pretty severe withdrawal symptoms.

I am not saying this stuff to be a smart ass or a know it all, I'm saying it from experience truthfully. Please don't try it. Please don't encourage any young people to try it. Some people smoked it only because it didn't show up on a drug test, but now there is a test that detects synthetic marijuana. So, there's no longer a valid excuse to put this shit into our systems.
