They didnt know about the meeting and there is a church and grave yard up there is y they want to keep the name no point in changing it cause the way they are tryin to do it makes no sense from the bottom of the hill to scenic hills is actually magnolia rd so if they change from the church to 160 to the new name thats three roads on one no matter what ppl will refer to it as buckridge i think it should b left alone
So... What is the issue with changing the name? Isn't it nothing but black people from the apartments to the grave yard? Just change the name where there isn't any black people.

Have you seen that graveyard? Probably not. It's not well taken care of. All of a sudden now people want to claim it. It's taken care of just like the black people's home that are lining the road up to it. Just another issue to throw the race card out. Let this happen, what's next? All of 4th avenue being renamed to crack avenue?

Frankly, I am appalled by what I have read on this forum. I can only take comfort in knowing the topix.com isn't terribly popular and that people from outside of Gallia County are unlikely to read these posts before visiting here.

This slanted view of the apartment complex on Buck Ridge Rd. needs to be addressed. Where do you get the idea that only black people live in Gallia Metro Estates? Have you ever been there? The racial distribution of black to white is much the same as the rest of Gallia County - mostly white families and a few black ones.

I continually hear people referring to Gallia Metro Estates as a place that is drug and crime infested. WAKE UP - the entire county has a horrific drug problem. It isn't specific to these apartments. There are a variety of people that live at Gallia Metro Estates just as there are a variety of people in Gallia County. People that work and people that don't. People who commit crimes and people who do not. In my opinion, it is wrong to label every resident as a member of some kind of "Gallia County underclass".

Some people are just trying to make it.

I think it is ridiculous to include everyone that lives at Buck Ridge Apartments in the stereoype that is associated with Buck Ridge. Some of the people who live at Buck Ridge work very hard doing LEGAL things, such as working a full time job and going to school. Not everyone who lives at Buck Ridge pays $2 rent, some pay the maxiumum, which is close to $500 a month. Some who live at Buck Ridge actually love their children and do everything possible to protect them. Some don't even let their children go outside, except for when they are accompanying them to the family vehicle to leave. I am sorry that everyone was not born with a silver spoon in their mouths and a Mommy and Daddy to give them everything, as I'm sure some of you were. Most of your opinions are very juvenile, as I'm sure you are as well.

Why didn't anyone up there at the noble Buckridge palace save Trenton Jones?

I'm sure someone heard him get hit, cry. I'm sure someone up there heard his little body being slammed up against the wall by his father.

The noble, hard working royal residents of Buckridge let him be killed as his sister watched.

No one did a God damned thing...

Not only did those buckridge folk let him die, but the Gallia County Juvenile courts sent him to his death. Trenton had family willing to raise he and Samara, but no. They had to keep sending him back to his killer daddy. I think the courts were afraid that if they took the two away from jason and Tina, they would just create another one. Gotta keep public assistance at the lowest possible.

I wonder.....

Isn't the term "buck" a derogatory (that means bad to those who live in the apartments)word that used to be used to describe a black slave? Why in the world would any African American want to live on a road with such a connotation?

This is so stupid. They had adequate time before the name was changed to petition it! An the end of the road that the name was changed wasn't even the end where 95 % of the African Americans on buck ridge live. Let it be!

just for those that are uneducated about the naacp....they don't just concern blacks!!!! its for anyone, including WHITES that feel they have been wronged in some way!!! again update your brains and learn something, you might just learn to think before you speak. that way you don't sound like an ignorant person that just wants to rant!!!
That's why NAACP stands for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, tell me it's not a race issue, if they had decided to stand up for everyone they need to change their name. If it was a civil liberties issue they should have called in the ACLU!!!

You want to know what pisses me off???????

The FACT that the NAACP refused to talk to my step-mom who is raising her three grandkids9-13 years of age. The Gallia court was FORCING the boys to see their father who is all kinds of trouble with the law(including domestic violence; VPTO; and breaking and entering). The oldest informed the judge he didn't want to see his dad, who has never given the kids Christmas or celebrated their birthdays.

BUT, they will fly on down here because someone is changing the name of a fucking road. GOOD FUCKIN GOD, this is what is wrong with America.

do a little history sweet heart and you'll see that the name was necessary for the time period the organization was created. Things do change and the NAACP is an organization willing to help anyone that they can.

I know that it was an adequate name when the organization started but times have changed. Many other organizations that started during that time have modified their names with the change, and if they are willing to help anyone then they should just merge with the ACLU.

This is true. That's why no one takes the NAACP seriously. When you whine about things such as a road, what do you expect normal people to think.

Yeah, I'm sure that no one thought twice about that huge lady. Maybe get off your ass and work. Or, here we go again. Another African American women bitchin about something.

Scenic Hills changed their name to Abbeyshire so that they would be first in the phone book and not be known as scenic hills. The owner also wanted the name of the street changed so that it wouldn't be associated with buckridge rd.
