Nothing but a "dog and pony show"!
It just reaffirms that Americans are living in a fog....
The "president" is on stage, painting a bright and illustrious picture in abstract! Most really don't understand what it is, but it sounds great!
Ex:... He spoke of raising min wage across the board. Says nobody should have to work for $7 hr so he's gonna raise it to $9 an hr.
But in reality what's gonna happen is that it going to cost companies more money to make goods or provide services. So the next link in the chain of events to follow is that the cost of these products and or services must go up as well!
It just defeated the whole purpose of raising the min wage and devalues the dollar!
..... Does this make sense to anyone else?

He wasn't very smooth but it was better than watching him squirm.

Does this mean you'd vote for the policy of "stuff costs more so we'll pay you less?"
If so then you'll be paying for more people on welfare.
What companies pay employees has no effect on the costs of resources. The costs of goods increases because demand goes up and supply goes down. But if they really want to save money by cutting employee wages then they wouldn't pay CEOs an average of 247 times the average workers pay.

I can agree that CEO's are overpaid, but to say that raising min wage won't effect costs of product is saying that companies/businesses are going to loss money .... Why wouldn't they increase cost if their overhead increases?

Or they will just cut back on their workforce to make up for the $. In reality, this is what really happens before prices are raised. An adjustment of # of workers and # of hours worked.

Very proud of our president last night. He just needs cooperation to make things work. He's only one person and can't do it alone. I thought he had some very good plans such as building and repairing roads and bridges. Think of how many jobs that will create.

Instead, people will gripe and say "he's spending more money" instead of realize that more jobs stimulate the economy. People say less government is needed. The problem is corporate greed and free enterprise got us where we are. How can the Republicans blame the economy and housing market crash on anybody but themselves?

Because it was a democrate named Bill Clinton who signed NAFTA! Just where do you think the money is going to come from to pay for these repairs on the country's roads and bridges? Seriously you Nobama sheople need to quit drinking the kool-aid and think about what jobs really stimulate and stabilize the economy. You need jobs that manufacture and produce goods. When everything we use and buy is imported from other countries we are doomed! The only jobs left are either with the government(federal, state, or local), healthcare industry, and utilities. That's just not going to bring back an economic recovery. This man is not the answer to our countries problems, he is going to bankrupt us.

It's people like your GOP idiot Mitt Romney who send the jobs overseas. You do know Clinton had a Republican congress when that was signed.

It's time for a new party platform to rise up and give a fresh perspective! The dens and republicans are both out of touch! It's like a pendulum that swings to far to the left or to far to the right! We don't need big govt! We don't need electoral college votes, we don't need big brother to watch are every move! Each state should set its own laws on which its legal citizens vote for! These "career" politicians need to go! The fed govt (state reps) all got raises this year on the eve of the fiscal cliff! Why should they recieve a raise?! I didn't vote for it did you? Ran Paul I think will make an excellent president! Yes he will have to run under the republican ticket in order to be considered but in my opinion he is not a "Republican". As it stands are country is going to hell in a hand basket! Something needs to be done about this madness and fast!

Are you suggesting we all load up ARE pickups with kool-aid and drive to Washington DC? I heard THEIR are black people there. Maybe we should just get a digital clock instead.. one assembled right here in the good ol us of a!!(Even though all 374 parts are made in China). My point is this: You can analy ram a pig with lipstick, but you can't make him drink. 20-4. Err day bitches, effrontery day.

Paul revere is right. Congress decided to take the whole next week off too. They just got a huge raise and should be earning that money. Government has out grown its britches. Its time for a diet. They sit up there getting fat and sassy on our dime people. All the while they chip away at our rights. We are losing them little by little each day. They blow the taxpayers money quicker than we can earn it. 1 billon dollars to join all the government computers. Totally wasted, they pulled the plug on the project with NOTHING to show for it. That's the tip of the proverbial iceberg. We are heading for bad times. Time to wake up and get out of bed.
