If I had migrated from another country, I would continue to speak my native language with my family and friends who speak it. You can't expect people from other countries to forget their native language. Now don't get to uptight because I do think immigrants should learn the English language too. If I were an immigrant from Mexico I wouldn't expect this country to print things in Spanish, it might be helpful, but it wouldn't encourage me to learn the native language. If everywhere I turned I could have my native language at my disposal I wouldn't learn English either. This is not going away anytime soon or ever in my opinion, in fact it will likely spread to other languages. Most businesses want business. School districts want good scores and so on.

I agree that it will be as is forever. Hence the reason that DPISD needs to teach proper Spanish staring in Kindergarden to all students that want to take it.

It would be nice if your co-workers spoke English around their fellow employees and customers. I have this experience every day. I just accept it and go on. All of them speak English...but prefer not to.

As one who immigrated LEGALLY, I find it truly offensive the way this government panders to those of Hispanic decent, legal or otherwise!

I come from a bi-lingual country and managed to live my whole life without ever really learning the second language. If I had wanted to work for the government, then I would have needed it.

Our street signs were in English. Our billboards were in English.

People who immigrated learned the English language and learned to live and work in that language. The exception was Quebec, where the majority spoke French, however there were very few who did not speak English as well!

It's time to stop letting the Hispanics take over here! It may not be easy to learn a new language, however it is not impossible if you want to! Speak your native tongue at home with your family, maintain your heritage on holidays if you want to, but that's where it should end!

I disagree. Kindergarten not kindergarden, hence the need for proper English to be the only language taught.
