I know this police officer personally and unfortunately I am not suprised. This is a sad story and Distel deserves what is coming to him.
Michael J...Remember this "what goes around comes around." This guy did make a mistake, because at the end no matter what he does for a living he is a human being. If you knew him trully "personally" like you say you do you would not say that. All of us at the end will get what we deserve including you "Michael J."

I beg you to just stop profiling! Your karma will catch up to you when you profile the wrong person. Probably dozens of caucasian serial killers walking the streets of MoCounty preying on the weak as we speak. You will never find them cause ur too busy chasing black males who fit the description. Matter of fact that serial killer wears a montgomery county uniform and there mission is to rid montgomery county of color.

I like how earlier you said, "all Montgomery County Police are Klansmen." sounds like you have the profiling mentality here since you're assuming all of the 1200 or so officers are one in the same. Maybe you should listen to your own BS. You might be the most ignorant loser I've ever come accross. And "serial killers"? You don't even know what you're talking about. You prob got pulled over some time ago for a busted tail light or something by some hard working cop, he found your dope, and you just dont want to accept responsbility. You just use the race card as an excuse. And now you just want to spend your time on here bashing this department and kicking this guy while he's down. Pathetic. This is a great department with a lot of great officers. Its unfortunate that the community will only hear about when we screw up.

It seems that there are a few people who constantly attack the police when a cop gets in trouble. Cops are people, and sometimes do wrong just like the rest of us. Does that make police as a whole bad people or, in the eyes of some, "unnecessary". you are the same losers that hate the cops, and then comlain and whine when you are the victim of a crime and wonder where the cops are. What do you do for a living? Are all of the people in your line of work perfect? Oh wait, I can guess what happened......you got stopped by the police once and acted like an A** and got what you desereved and now you hate the police.
Perhaps this officer needs a rehab program offered to him. Just because he was arrested does not mean that he is a "bad" person....maybe he has a substance issue, like many of you do.

Hey "sad indeed", Michael J. just said that. "He's getting what is coming to him" We all get what is coming to us- be it good or bad. He just said that.

By the way, someone can know a person personally, but not as a friend. Duh! Not that it's the case here, but haven't you ever heard, "keep your friends close but your enemies closer"?

Actually we do profile our traffic stops, shame on us. We profile black, brown, white and sometimes red cars. We especially like to profile the drivers who are speeding, running red lights, failing to stop for stop signs. It especially gets fun to profile vehicles that don't have working headlights or break lights. AND BONUS for an ignorant driver behind the wheel like yourself, because that is when I take twenty minutes writing every ticket I can find in the book while I get a K-9 in the area fo find the dope in your car. CHOW CHOW idiot....

You are aware that a K9/Drug Dog is only effective if in fact DOPE or any other narcotic is actually in the car? Or you have reasonable suspicion to "believe" that narcotics are in the car. If *I* was speeding in your county, you would only be able to get me for only one ticket. Rest assured, no "narcotics" are in my car, therefore you my friend would be wasting valuable resources getting a K9 for my vehicle, while you "take your time" to write every ticket concieveable. The fact that you would get a K9 for a car that you "assume" has DOPE/NARCOTICS in it is in FACT profiling. I was under the impression that t-stops needed to be completed in as quick a manner as possible. Oh yea, ASSUMING I have narcotics in the car (based on your post to the other guy) is definately not the same as "Reasonable Suspicion". That in itself *IS* profiling. And dont for one second assume that only citizens frequent these forums, officers such as myself do also.......

No, you just can not comprehend it. If it would have been a DC or PG officer, this board would have been filled with a million and 1 replies on how the officers in those jurisdictions are dirtbags yadda yadda ya. Look at anytime someone gets killed in DC/PG its 500+ comments. Happens in Potomac/Poolesville/Damascus/B urtonsville/Laytonsville, it was just an accident.

And the winner is a MORON from Virginia. Police do *NOT* need any reasonable suspicion OR probable cause to have a K-9 scan a car. A police K-9 in the State of Maryland can be wherever a police officer can be. Also, please read up on profiling before you post your Reston Virginia comments....because quite simply put you are just an:
I D I O T. Congrats!

You should really get your facts straight... his girlfriend had been in an accident but she was not under the influence of any drungs or alcohol. It is awful that you are trying to make a bad situation worse by spreading rumors. Maybe everything you hear about people is not true so just wait till the real facts come out before you judge someone.

Actually he is right, he was on the way to pick up his girlfriend who was picked up for DUI. What he claimed is what was reported in the news, but what was reality has already been told here.

I almost never hear of cops getting arrested for drunk driving. This is the kind of stuff that happens to regular citizens that have too much fun and the party goes out of bounds. That's all.
