I would highly recommend the Victory Lakes Area. The Victory Elementary School is top-notch. The teachers and administration are caring professionals. Go to visit the community and take a tour of the school and talk with the parents who volunteer there everyday. Then make your decision

unfortunately, a law enforcement friend of mine verified MS13 (latino gang) activity all the way out to Warrenton and into Rappahannock County. Proximity to Manassas hardly matters, the world/country/state is 'shrinking' everyday in our now global community. Enjoy!

Manassas Baptist has a 3day and 5day program for 4 year olds. They are a developmental pre-school,offering many activities to meet the needs of developing pre-schoolers,including sensory and gross motors skills development as well as the regular Art,music, language and math skills pre-schoolers need to be ready for kindergarten. They also have programd for two and three year olds.

I am a Realtor who lives and works in the Bristow/Gainesville area. My son attends Victory Elementary, and my wife commutes daily to Chantilly. The infrastructure has finally caught up to the building projects and the roads have been widened and are currently being improved even more. Bristow is a great place to live, friendly people, great shopping options and very good schools.

Does anyone currently know how long it takes to drive into washington DC from Bristow vs. Taking the VRE and Metro to the F. West stop? My husband was recently discouraged to moving to Bristow because of the commute not being worth it. I am really set on living in Bristow but worried about his commute.

You can't really sugar coat this one, that commute would suck. I know those who do it, and they think it sucks. Those who think it's not that bad are just used to it. I'm going with 1 - 1.5 hours one way (no HOV lane). The train isn't a whole lot better, you have to go all the way to Springfield first, then transfer to the subway and take it in.

There's no question that it is a long commute. I live in Bristow (Victory Lakes) and take the VRE from Broad Run to Union Station. I'm out the door at 5:55 and hit union station about 7:30. You would not transfer to metro in Springfield, thats a different VRE line. You'd take the VRE all the way to L'Enfant, about 70 min ride, then about a 17 min. metro ride directly to F. West.

A lot of people commute that way from out here and have for a long time. Beats driving. It's a comfortable ride and not overly crowded. You can catch a nap or read a paper/book. Certainly not for everyone though.

Previous posters hit the nail on the head about VL Elementary. The administration is quite lacking in leadership and ability. The school has failed to meet NCLB standards for the past three years. They are especially poor in math, where the administration thinks that 70% passing standardized tests is excellent. We pulled our kids out of there after the first year. It seems that they spent more time roaming the halls going from room to room than in any class (yes even PE).

My wife and I are considering moving to Bristow, specifically the Victory Lakes development. Can anyone fill me in on what it's like there and what concerns we should have?
Also, I have to commute to D.C. each day, what's the drive like early in morning commute (say, leaving at 5-5:30am)?
My cousins lives in that development and her husband commutes to DC everyday and they don't have a problem with it. Granted DC isn't around the corner, but if you don't mind a little bit of a drive, it's not bad at all as long as you know when to take which roads. The development itself is very nice.
