I had the same issue as all of you have posted. I bought a Vanilla gift card for myself. All of my purchases online were declined. QUICK FIX TO THE PROBLEM: Go to vanillavisa.com and enter in the card number, etc on the right. Then on the next page on the left is "register your card", go to that page and enter your zip code. Thats literally IT!

Ya think?? Seriously doubt that will solve the major problems cardholders are having.

Most of you guys probably should register it, in case anyone didn't. I've loaded $100 and nothing wrong..

Vanilla Visa sucks. I used it once to buy a game on steam which was 20 dollars and another thing for 5 dollars. I should have 10 dollars on it left. I haven't touched it in 2 months and I wanted to use is but when I try to it says details could not be found using the card number entered. Please re-enter correctly.

I've bought several over the past couple of years, no problem. Not a scam, not in Canada anyway.

And if it helps - the vanillavisa.com site didn't work for me. It only had the gift card or reward card options. Go to the site on the back of the card...in my case visaprepaidcanada.com

Reponse to "Kayla:" Then you must be talking about a card that differs from the one this post is about. The Vanilla Visa card that so many are having problems with IS a gift card. Some of the people who have posted here are trying to insinuate that these card victims don't know what they are talking about, or are doing something wrong, when in fact they are comparing apples to oranges, and talking about a totally different card. For so many vast numbers of customers to be repeatedly reporting the SAME problems over and over again with the "VANILLA VISA GIFT CARD" DOES speak to the fact that there is clearly a problem with this card. While it may not technically be an actual "scam," the problem is that the companies behind this thing have made the redemption process so user UN-friendly, that they are making megabucks off of this farce of a card!

Register it and it still does not work. Put in your zip code! NOPE! Vanilla Visa still will not work. Take it to the cash register? Hey moron, that is what most people are doing and guess what? Vanilla Visa DOES NOT WORK!!!

Vanilla Visa is surely designed to to be a problem and supports this with a horrible customer service back up so that the user will eventually give up and quit trying, that way Vanilla Visa pockets all that profit!!!

Can you say Vanilla Visa is a RIP-OFF? Purchase one and you will be!

Recieved a Vanilla gift card for birthday and have not been able to use it yet. It is a DEBIT card that literally cannot be run as debit because you can't give them a PIN, and will almost always be declined when run as credit. Complete BS and scam, how can a multi national corporation get away with stealing so blatently. If this were an individual they would be jailed

Vanilla Visa GIFT card is not a debit card. It is a prepaid gift card which actually is supposed to be run through more as a credit card would. In most cases, it gets declined when the card issuer tries to make a purchase for more than the value of the card but doesn't know that at checkout the BALANCE of the transaction (amount exceeding the value of the gift card) has to be applied toward the purchase FIRST and then the gift card applied LAST.(Most store clerks ALSO don't know this required sequence order until the customer doles out instructions, ridiculous as it may seem.) The gift card will NOT work if applied toward a transaction balance that exceeds the amount of the card. Forget about using it in a restaurant or gas station, as that entails even MORE of a hassle, with more costs coming off the card.
Vanilla Visa Gift card is indeed filled with fallacy and a multiplicity of ripoffs built into the process. The purchaser determines what value he wants to purchase it for, then has to fork over an additional fee on top of the amount purchased (Ripoff number 1). Then the UNlucky recipient of this thing goes through the obstacle course of trying to redeem it (Ripoff number 2). Then the card's value steadily declines over time for every month not utilized (Ripoff number 3). AND -- if the card user can't figure out how to get the stupid thing accepted when making a purchase, he will often give up out of sheer frustration and forfeit the whole thing!(Ripoff number 4). Stay clear of this card, and the lives of all involved in this "gift" charade will be made a whole lot easier.

Vanilla Visa Gift Cards should be outlawed. Walgreens cant help..They say they activated the card.
Vanilla Visa cant help..They say send in your receipt and wait 4 to 7 days while they investigate. In the meantime, Card doesnt work and there doesnt seem to be a way to get action. Wait while Vanilla Visa has the money and supposedly the power. NEVER buy one of these cards unless you are ready for a real hassle.

I use Vanilla Visa for a long time, and I have never had a problem. Folks, after you buy VV card, you need to go to their website www.vannillavisa.com and register your zip code. This zip code has to match the zip code you place under billing address in your order. This is the best card out there!
