There are many factors to take into consideration before you decide to invest into a residential treatment center. I personally spent almost a year in this one and I had a very unpleasant first experience with residential treatment in this facility. I was court sent to another 7154 much more convenient and nice facility. Please tour different facilities and you will understand what I am trying to explain. Ask questions about the required outside meetings with little or no transportation assistance and considerable distances to employment. Please choose your program carefully because if mandated, you may not be able to change. 12 months is a considerable amount of time to be in a hostile and nonsupportive environment. I wish I had researched local facilities better, they are not created the same.

This place is not a good place for your recovery. They have no legitimate certified counselors on site. They bring in outside subs to meet the very minimum basic state requirements. Keep looking for genuine residential treatment, there are some excellent ones in town.

This is a very unsafe and unhealthy program of recovery. I spent almost 2 years in here and went back to jail on probation violations. I was house manager at the end before I was incarcerated. I went from being in charge to being back in county.8322

My friend was enrolled here because I put him in here after seeing all of the misleading FB pages. It is nothing like they portray it. Please go and your different sites and you will see that there are some very modern state of art commercial facilities in town. This place was horribly overcrowded and inconveniently located out in some rural location. I do not want to get into detail of onsite nuisances. Keep looking sobriety seekers. This affordable treatment can be matched and surpassed in much nicer and less crowded programs.

This place is not a valid treatment facility. This is just a boarding house on the far outskirts of town that has its boarders attend daily AA meetings at the church. You have no actual treatment other than an outside subcontractor who carries the credentials to make it seem somewhat legitimate as a rehab. They just take your money and make you go to the church for AA meetings and say that you are getting treatment. Please do not give these guys thousands of your dollars without asking them a lot of questions about there so-called program of recovery. I was terribly upset when I found out that my friend had put me in this horrible program that had no real recovery program other than AA meetings at church. So free AA meetings at church and I am paying these guys for treatment. The taxi fare is costing me more to go to work than I make on the local minimum wage job they forced me to take because the dump is so far out of town. I was not pleased when I find out I am 3 men in a room and 2 tiny outdated bathrooms for 14+ men. You imagine living this way for a year. There are new and nice facilities in town that make it easy to get treatment and offer onsite treatment instead of the AA at the church.

This place is a terrible place to try and get sobriety. This director has no formal education in the field of addiction, or any related discipline as far as I know. This business used to employ a CACII at one time to give it some legitimacy. He departed very shortly and now it is just using subcontractors to meet the very minimum requirements. The state should have some organization that monitors businesses such as this one. They hired some intern who is attending classes to get his CAC papers. Currently, no one on staff has any training or credentials to be giving the treatment they are charging the clients large weekly fees. Why do more people not look into how an unethical business like this can put as many men in an overcrowded single family residence. We had 12+ men sharing two rundown and outdated bathrooms. There is no way a single family septic system can handle waste for that many grown men. I wish I had visited this dump before I allowed myself to be committed to 12 excruciating
months in this old, overcrowded, rundown, outdated and severely inconveniently located domicile. Please go look at some of the newer ones located inside the city to see that the same amount of money can get you a new commercial apartment compared to the cramped and outdated residential single family structure. I would like to see the occupancy permits on these places. Someone please check on these permits before you give these unscrupulous individuals your hard earned money. I lost most of my retirement investment and a year of my life to this places unethical practices. It is a savage and unsafe environment to attempt recovery as a resident. Had I known that my court order would not allow a transfer, I would never had put myself in this extremely overpriced jeopardy. I wish all people looking to avoid a long sentence "good luck" and do not use these unethical operators. My sentence would be day per day more pleasant in incarceration. This place is so far out of civilization that you can not walk to any amenity. The new ones in town are within walking distance to everything you will possibly need. Just go and tour both options and meet the wonderful operators. You will see my point.

It is pretty funny that ALL of these reviews are grouped around the same time that an ex-employee was "departed " from the business . I am grateful for everything I learned here and it is a shame. I am grateful. The only thing unethical about this place is the ex-employee . The laugh of this all is the FACT that the ex employee's last name and nickname is "Weezy" like the guy who posted a few spaces up. He should be ashamed of himself!

I agree that the disgruntled "departed" ex-employee needs to be happy he was drawing a pay check for over a year for doing absolutely nothing. I mean he was replaced by an intern. I guess they did not need all those ABCDEFG letters he had by his name. I mean they are now running with no fancy letters by the names. They did not need all that silly CACII stuff. I mean heck, just bring in some certified counselor for that silly little community meeting at the church meeting on Sunday, that will be the legitimate meeting required to be ____ approved. That will show that unethical former employee. You should be ashamed of yourself former employee.

Weeezy was the only person in that infested organization with any education or certifications. We all new the little man running the business into the ground would run him off as soon as his intern achieved some paperwork. We just never thought he would just bring in some "consultant" and be rid of him so soon. I would be nervous if I were the process of getting papers. With the temps coming in as "consultant", really do not need much more. Just someone to wheelbarrow the money to the bank on Friday. Hey, Weeezy is still in the camping photos on Facebook. Maybe he left all his CAC papers hanging on the wall when he departed. Why you all hating on Weeezy? He used to look so cool when they would dress up as ninjas in black and do surprise inspections on weekend nights, blacked out with headlights on their heads.

The only good thing about this place is that you are forced to overcome your fear of large rodents. You learn to live and share your groceries with them. It is slightly aggravating when they they chew up your clothes in the closets. Check the domiciles very carefully and you will see signs of your included pets. You will find much more pleasant and less dangerous facilities inside the civilized city limits. We had our "Houseman" stealing residents mail and forging our checks. Yes, this was our appointed "Houseman". Thug in charge of the other residents in our rundown and isolated shanty. Man, this place is rough and hostile. I truly felt safer in A-POD detention center. I actually saw less violence incarcerated than I did in this savage and brutal facility. There was no supervision other than the randomly appointed thug client designated as "Houseman". Like I said, ours was going through our mail and taken our checks. I am still having to deal with the County authorities about several months of stolen checks. Please be careful people. You can spot the real life credible reviews and the false scripted ones. Please do not be fooled by all the propaganda on their self-produced websites. This is nothing like the real life horror this place promotes.

It really is not a very ethical or professional place to seek recovery. This establishment has no onsite certified counselors. They bring in outside "consultants" to be able to be "approved". Go meet the administration and ask to see qualifications of onsite staff and CITs and office staff. I believe you will find it appalling that none of the daily staff have any paperwork to back the titles. Better yet, there are professional websites that show education and experience levels for industry in the area. Check out the business page linked to Agora House. I was shocked to see how little formal education and credentials this place staffs onsite. Check carefully and you will see how unprofessional this place really is operated. Go visit the site where you will be housed. I was horrified by the domicile that I was expected to reside in for a year. It was excruciating due to the condition, location, severely overcrowded, infested and terribly isolated. There was a fine gentleman at one time who was an actual certified and ethical CACII on site daily. He departed very shortly after adding a bit of legitimacy to this unethical organization.

I was noticing that these unscrupulous operators have to change the Staff page on the company website every month. They do not keep any staff for more than a few months. Check it out before you commit to these unethical folks. Just go look at all the droppings in the pantries and decide if you want to live that. I was fearful for my life my entire stay out here. We were beating very large rodents to death every morning in the kitchen with canned food. This place is very scary people. You are so islated from civilization that you are completely incapacitated without a license and vehicle. We had one vehicle for 12+ men at most times. We had poor guys 3 deep in the trunks of cars trying to get to the "Treatment" of daily required 12-step AA meetings provided by the local church. That is your only treatment people. Free AA meetings at church required everyday. How can you put 12+ men in a single family residence? No wonder we could not shower or use the decrepit bathrooms. Septic tanks can not handle that many grown men. Go look real carefully at the horrible living conditions. It was seriously worse than my county jail cell. We did not have rat infestations in my county jail. I thought you had to have occupancy certificates for these structures. We had clients calling about the hazardous rodents and it made the barbaric treatment from the unqualified director get more unethical. This place is really one of the worst in the area. Please, please, please go tour these dumps before you give these clowns your non-refundable money. This place was like a third-world housing environment. I guess that they are so far out of civilization to avoid codes and permits. Ask many questions about the daily onsite staff and their qualifications and education. This place was run like a fly-by-night boarding house. They are trying to use Facebook as some alice in wonderland false advertising. Be careful and do not let these evil operators fool you with there false Internet advertising. This place was hell and I would never put one of my children in this unsanitary, outdated, run-down, isolated, infested, overcrowded and severely inconveniently located slum. Go look first. They probably will not allow you. I met a nice couple who were looking at the brand new commercial apartments in town ran by a legitimate residential treatment They said the Agora would not let them see the unsafe structures. I told them they needed protection to fend off the extremely large rodents in the Agora house. It was the worst and most unprofessional business that I have ever dealt with in my entire adult life. I do not know why they courts use these horrible operators as alternatives to incarceration. It was much more dangerous than any correctional facilty I had ever been housed. I saw more physical altercations in this "Treatment" facility than I did incarcerated.

Hey, I remember when the house man had two big wolf rats in his upstairs bed. Man, that place was like the survivor show. Remember Presley having to go try to clear the septic tank with a broom handle. That little napolean director told us to stop using toilet paper. I will never forget the horrible months spent in that horrible old house. Damn, it was 2 hour walk up to the closest bus stop. That dump was so isolated that the cab fare was $20 one way to town. I wonder who is left? Weezy finally got a real job. Intern went AWOL. That big consultant is all that is left, other than that lil biddy director. He is really working these poor people on that fictional Facebook page. It looks like they are thinning out. I know that the occupancy certificate for memorial shows 6 maximum. How are they putting 12 and 14 grown men in these old single family homes? This place was a for real dump. I can not believe that I enrolled in that shack without ever seeing it first. I will never forget the excrutiating hell those inexperienced staff put us through. I can tell the owner/director only has 3 years experience and no formal schooling in the field. I guess the intern is no longer working for the little man. I want someone to look into how they are operating these shanties with no valid papers.

Someone please look into what government organization oversees these type half-way houses. This place was putting way too many men in these old rundown single family homes. There was no treatment program other than outside 12-step AA meetings at local churches. With no license or vehicle, they expected our child to make it many miles once a day for this "treatment". This place is no residential treatment program, it is an overpriced boardin9g house that forces boarders to attend church 12-step AA meetings. Go look at the crowded and unpleasant living conditions. Once we realized what a dump this place was, we found some very nice places in town. New commercial facilities that are walking distance to everything. Stay away from these horrible people. They promote savage brutality in these horrible and isolated shanties.

They staff section on the Agora House fof Men company website has changed yet again. Do they staff the office with the same day labor employment firms that the give the clients a handout of upon entry. They need to update the company website photos as often as they have to edit the staff page. I wish they would put pictures of all those rat traps we had all over that dump we were packed in like sardines. It is funny how that little biddy man on the bike is the only staff that does not show any real qualifications or education. What is up with the "Director" not having any credentials? That does not fly in my line of work. I guess it is like occupancy certificates and business licenses, they do not need those either.
I guess they are still hanging in there. Somebody is going to get hurt in that dump for real. I hate to see someone get injured, but maybe then they will be forced to run those dumps like a legitimate business.

I have nothing but praise for the Agora house. The director spoke with me for hours on the phone about our family member who was a chronic relapser after a strong stint of 8 years sober. The director drove to Atlanta to pick up our family member from the ER. For the first time in three years he gave me hope.

Becoming responsible, gaining employment and self-esteem, getting your family back.. These are all things I've witnessed happen with this program.

They camp and hike and build bonds and friendships. If you want to get sober, you can do it at any program. If you want to get sober and get a better you and a better life back, this is the place.
It saved our family member. Thanks Agora House.

Let's see how you feel after some time. This place is a bad environment and not a pleasant place to live. You should have looked around at the living conditions and the more civilized places. If your family member is not mandated by the court, get him out fast.

Anyone who would recommend this dump should be ashamed of themself. This place was violent and unsafe. Theft is a regular event. Me and my roommate had thousands of dollars of checks stolen and cashed by appointed Agora House for Men managers. People do not put your loved ones in this dump. It is among the worst and most dangerous. Ask about the many thefts and police reports. This place is down right evil.

It is really irresponsible for someone who has never had to endure this savage and brutal environment to come on here and recommend this horrible and infested facility. You go actually spend a week in this rundown shanty and then promote this hazardous dump. I would rather do a year in my county detention center than 3 months in this isolated domicile. Go look at it before you mislead these people looking for actuall treatment. Mandatory church provided 12-step AA meeting is not hardly a valid residential program. This place is a "money racket" and the tiny napolean running/operating it has no business, education or experience to be a court approved program. I am investivating what can be done to hold these money hungry unscrupulous operators accountable. They have caused many an innocent man be incarcerated. They promote thugs and punish the honest. "The only thing required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing."

Hey Beige, how is that rat infested dump working out for your family member? Man this slum had as many rats in the kitchen as convicts on client list. We had droppings everywhere in the house. Man I would have stayed another several months in jail to avoid this slum. They made me houseman and got upset when I was stealing the client's mail and forging everyone's checks. This place is dangerous and isolated.
