So I am extremely frustrated at the white trash neighbors & their pack of dogs (approximately 6) living down the road. about a week ago I saw a dead one laying in their front yard and it stayed there for a few days. the dogs have free roam of the street and are constantly getting into the trash making a complete mess out of my yard, digging in my garden, using the bathroom everywhere and generally being a nuisance barking up and down the street. One of the younger dogs looks like it is covered in mange as well..
So what am I left to do?!?! I have my own dog (a small breed so he is useless in defending property) but he stays in my yard. I don't want to fatally shoot those dogs because 1) I think its cruel, 2) its technically not the dogs fault but the owners, 3) I don't know if I would get in trouble if I did!!
Help?

Make sure your own hands are clean first. I understand your frustration, but you never know if they have a picture of your dog in their yard or messing up their stuff. Then whatever happens to them will come right back at you as well. I've actually seen that happen.

What have the neighbors said when you asked them to keep them off of your property?

I don't know the laws on this matter but I wish I did. Probably would just be best to call the sheriffs office and find out.

The only law applied to animals in Jackson County is the state statute which says that animals must be confined or restrained and therefore not allowed to run at large.

Like I said, if the animals are being allowed to run loose the owner is violating the state leash law..........

Have the very same problem in my neighborhood. white trash with a big pack of roaming dogs. the sheriff dept. does little or nothing to help us out with this problem. poisoning seems reasonable to me and will commence in the near future.

What exactly are the dogs doing to warrant being poisoned? Are they on your property, frustrated? Are they getting into your trash or hurting your property somehow?
I would consider not only is it worth taking the animals life, but is it worth the ill will you will build up with people. You never know when you will need a neighbor. Not to mention, if you have any pets of your own, you can bet the first time they get out after that you'll be burying them as well.
If they are seriously causing problems, that is one thing. If you're just being a drama queen, that's something else entirely.

ok.....they are constantly in everyones trash including mine. people have to stop going up and down the road for these roaming dogs. even the owners have to stop for these dogs to get out of there way as well. I have no pets of my own and dont want any...and as far as ill will from my so called neighbors...why would i want to be friends with white trash.

Its your call. I've had others dogs in my trash and it is frustrating. Just wondered if it would be worth it. Some people get mighty upset over their pets, and who wants a neighbor just waiting for a chance to pounce on something you've done wrong? I just hope it's something that isn't a whole lot worse than dogs being loose. Do what you want, but most of the times it's best to let the little things go before they snowball into big things.

I'm in Jackson county. Have a dog that roams free sometimes. The neighbors kids and dogs play with him. Before you start referring to people as white trash and bitching you should talk to the neighbors and discuss the issue with them. Unless something is keeping you from doing that? Social awkwardness, maybe their house is bigger and nicer and you don't feel confident in telling them they should keep their dogs up.

Got to be a reason they won't talk to the neighbor. So quick to yell white trash my guess would be that they are projecting.

Projecting sounds about right. The name calling and attitude sound like just another neighborhood blowhard than spends all of his time ranting about politics and anything else he can complain about online to feel some sense of purpose. If you can't talk to the neighbors, why would you talk about them?

Your neighbors may be my across the highway neighbors. Do you live on a little circle road right off 56?

Daily Horoscope for May 18

Aquarius

Watch out if you're going shopping, because you'll be tempted to splash out on impulse buys. This doesn't matter so much if you're feeling flush, but it could cause problems if you're supposed to be counting every penny. Whatever the state of your finances, you may buy items you don't need and possibly even won't like when you look at them again tomorrow.
