These junk policies were going to expire within a year anyway, so, what's the diff? The state mandates the kind of auto coverage you have. Whats the diff?
More lies aren't helping your case.

San Francisco architect Lee Hammack says he and his wife, JoEllen Brothers, are “cradle Democrats.” They have donated to the liberal group Organizing for America and worked the phone banks a year ago for President Obama’s re-election.

Since 1995, Hammack and Brothers have received their health coverage from Kaiser Permanente, where Brothers worked until 2009 as a dietitian and diabetes educator.“We’ve both been in very good health all of our lives – exercise, don’t smoke, drink lightly, healthy weight, no health issues, and so on,” Hammack told me.

The couple — Lee, 60, and JoEllen, 59 — have been paying $550 a month for their health coverage — a plan that offers solid coverage, not one of the skimpy plans Obama has criticized. But recently, Kaiser informed them the plan would be canceled at the end of the year because it did not meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act. The couple would need to find another one. The cost would be around double what they pay now, but the benefits would be worse.

“From all of the sob stories I’ve heard and read, ours is the most extreme,” Lee told me in an email last week.

I’ve been skeptical about media stories featuring those who claimed they would be worse off because their insurance policies were being canceled on account of the ACA. In many cases, it turns out, the consumers could have found cheaper coverage through the new health insurance marketplaces, or their plans weren’t very good to begin with. Some didn’t know they could qualify for subsidies that would lower their insurance premiums.

So I tried to find flaws in what Hammack told me. I couldn’t find any.

The couple’s existing Kaiser plan was a good one.
Their new options were indeed more expensive, and the benefits didn’t seem any better.
They do not qualify for premium subsidies because they make more than four times the federal poverty level, though Hammack says not by much.

I asked Hammack to send me details of his current plan. It carried a $4,000 deductible per person, a $40 copay for doctor visits, a $150 emergency room visit fee and 30 percent coinsurance for hospital stays after the deductible. The out-of-pocket maximum was $5,600.

This plan was ending, Kaiser’s letters told them, because it did not meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act.“Everything is taken care of,” the letters said.“There’s nothing you need to do.”

The letters said the couple would be enrolled in new Kaiser plans that would cost nearly $1,300 a month for the two of them (more than $15,000 a year).

And for that higher amount, what would they get? A higher deductible ($4,500), a higher out-of-pocket maximum ($6,350), higher hospital costs (40 percent of the cost) and possibly higher costs for doctor visits and drugs.

When they shopped around and looked for a different plan on California's new health insurance marketplace, Covered California, the cheapest one was $975, with hefty deductibles and copays.

Obama has admitted in his radio spots that a main objective of Obamacare is to reduce insurance premiums paid by women.

What Obama doesn't say is that women now pay higher premiums because they use medical services at at least 1.5x the yearly rate as men use medical services.

Obamacare is designed to reduce premiums for women and shifting the cost to everyone else, especially men.

Obamacare is yet another legal privilege that Obama has created for diversity people, in this case women.

Men are also less inclined to use preventive care, go for annual checkups, and to ignore symptoms. Perhaps those higher premiums women pay now are to cover the higher costs related to ignoring those preventive care appointments and longer hospitalizations later for cancer treatments? Women also do not, in general, participate in more dangerous behavior that will land them in ERs with broken bones or injuries requiring hospitalization.

Not a proponent of Obamacare, but let's be realistic about this argument.

More simple than that. Obamacare was created and written to take over a large part of the economy, put it your health care and health decisions into the governments hands.

Moreover, although SCOTUS may have touted is as 'legal', as a tax, it is no longer a law as Obama himself has broken several mandates contained in it to accomodate his union contributors and croonies.

So it's either taxation without representation, as it would not have survived a national vote had we been given a chance for our voices to be heard, or it is a law no longer in effect as precedent to break it without penalty has been set by POTUS himself.

Tip will help me out with the legal parlance.

Obama is a crook and not a very good one.

3 months' worth of take-home pay to cover premiums and the high deductibles versus about 5.5 weeks' worth of take-home pay to cover premiums and a modest deductible. I'm glad you can afford it - not everyone can.

How can you call a policy "junk" when you're trying to compare it to something else that hasn't even been in place for a year? Aren't you jumping the gun a little there?
Did he lie? YES. And they're answer to it? "Yeah he lied, but you had crappy insurance anyway."
But there's really no way to make a fair comparison yet. "Mission accomplished" anybody???

Huge difference between the state mandating car insurance to cover the liability of others should you be at fault, and the feds mandating maternity health insurance to those females who don't have a uterus or are past the age of reproducing, particularly in an age of million dollar babies because prematurity is on the rise and therefore costs are skyrocketing. Older women have different health insurance needs. That's two differences for you.

No. We were just not smart enough to understand what the President really meant. Even if Obamacare isn't very good yet, at least now everybody can have it. And that's what's important.

you could have had it prior to obamacare for 35% less.

you were snookered.

PS: over 4,000,000 have lost their healthcare insurance due to obamacare. They actually had it, and lost it.

Obama lied, and their healthcare died.

Auto insurance isn't required to pay for wax jobs, tires, and oil changes. Also you can choose to self-insure (post a bond with the BMV) or you can choose not to drive.
