I'm Bruce I use my real name in Yahoo Mail although I know I don't have to.
Throughout most of last year I worked at the FBO (Owens Field) where Andre Bauer kept his Moony Aircraft.  I helped Azalia Leonhardt pull out his aircraft many times.

What's not known about this story is it's NOT Andre Bauer's first mishap.  In August of last year I was attending to the Athletic departments King Air on an early afternoon flight when I was watching an aircraft on approach.  As it got close I looked in horror as I noticed the landing gear was UP!

I quickly got on the FBO's radio and called to the person at the line desk,“AIRCRAFT LANDING NO GEAR DOWN!  NO GEAR DOWNâ€?.  At about 2 feet from touchdown Andre pulled up so heard the aircraft strike the runway.  Both myself the Pilot from USC's Athletic department heard and saw the "Strike".

He (Andre Bauer) went around the landing pattern and this time safely landed.  He taxied so fast down to his storage hanger he could have taken off again right then.  Following this he locked his aircraft in the storage hanger and forbid anyone from seeing it or inspecting it.

Later that day both the Airport manager (Jim Hamilton) and the FBO manager Kelly Hamilton) told me this: "Andre Bauer's plane did not strike the runway!" (Wink Wink).  even though I saw it do so and heard it too.

What bothers me is IF the Airport managers had reported the “Aircraft Strikeâ€? according to the “Lawâ€? this accident (yesterday) might not have happened after Andre Bauer got his pilots license pulled for not reporting the “Aircraft Strikeâ€? in August himself.

This accident is clearly a case of "Pilot Error", plain and simple...
A majority of aircraft accidents are related to a lack of good judgement and poor decisions being made. the lt. Gov needs to accept the fact he errored in his judgement that day.

Just like a Republican, Federal Investigators stated it was Lt. Bauers fault for not aborting the take-off. And, now he wants to blame his actions on someone else. After all, they are on the right.

I, too, thought the plane crash was determined to be "pilot error".

I guess he couldn't get away with being SC #2 in the plane (like the time he tried to use his "Lt. Governor" status when he was clocked speeding in his state vehicle), so he wants to blame someone else for the plane crash.

HHHMMM another person not taking responsibilty for his own actions ie not aborting take off due to low airspeed. Let SUE and see how much we can get for our own stupidity. Geesh you made a mistake and had an accident, so accept responsibility for it.

I'm still trying to figure out who voted for this guy...and I'm a republican!

He's a fine example of the good-ole-boy system that's alive and well in South Carolina.

Have you ever considered that the crash helped him with the election vote. Robert Barber is an upstanding citizen and would have done our state right.

you said it. He's an idiot... he proves that over and over again. And he's as crooked as a... well as a politician. But his ability to get himself elected is uncanny!

What an idiot we have for Lt. Governor. One day his driving and / or flying will end up as a tragic accident where other innocent folks will be killed. Can we get him removed from office for all his cover-ups? Just think---this guy is next in line to be Governor. Now---that is one scary thought.
I voted all Republican in the last election---except for the idiot Bauer.
How do you make $50,000 a year as he does and buy a million dollar condo? So much of what this little idiot does raises "red flags" all over the place. Come on folks--wake up---and let's get this guy out of office. This is one Republican that I am certainly not proud of---are you??
Let's investigate Bauer's "crash landing" at the airport. I hope I get called to his jury trial for the lawsuit.

Here we go again ...geeezzzzz Any pilot worth his wings should know at what speed the aircraft can make a safe take off . This is 100 % pilot error . He had time to abort but chose not to . Now he wants to sue the people who serviced the plane . GEEEE what a great role model he is . They need to pull is flight ticket and drivers license

Isn't Bauer too young to be driving, let alone flying!? I think you need to be at least old enough to have a driver's license before you can run for public office. His Dad ought to snatch his beginner's permit from him and ground him! What's next- "Doogie Houser, airline pilot"!!!

He and Paris Hilton need to get together . Both are air heads and neither one can drive . He needs to slow down and get a eariler start . We all have the same 24 hours in a day. Some manage better than he does.

He simply did not have enough runway given the temperture and weight of the plane. It's possible that the engine was a problem but when he didn;t abort the takeoff roll when he DID notice that it was not going fast enough he used poor judgement. He did not do the required calculations prior to take off.He may have waited for cooler temps or off loaded weight and that may have saved his bacon. Andre, flying is serious business, Please make an effort to slow down and do it right. We like pilots that live a long time. You can lie to people but not to an airplane. Best of luck to him. He's truly an embarrasment to the State of South Carolina.

Someone will end up giving him a wad of cash to keep this out of court, he will by another plane and most likely will crash it as well.

Go away, Andre.'Hey, someone needs to print some bumper stickers'.

YEAH IT WAS A SAD ACCIDENT. BUT IF HIS PLANE WAS GOING TOO SLOW BEFORE
LEAVING. WHY DIDN'T HE JUST NOT TAKE OFF. CERTAINLY HE WAS TRAINED TO RECOGNIZE POSSIBLE PROBLEMS LIKE THAT. ALSO, I THINK THE PASSENGER
HAD MORE EXPERIENCE THAN THE LT.GOV ERNOR. I'M NO ATTORNEY OR CLAIMS ADJUSTER BUT IT APPEARS THEY
ASSUMED THE RISK. CASE DENIED FOR PAYMENT. NEXT CASE PLEASE!

I bet despite his own stupidy being the reason for the crash he will still win the lawsuit just because of his standing. He should lose the lawsuit and be kicked out of office, but as we know that won't be the case.
