It's simply amazing to me how two different people can go in for a job that requires minimal training and education (and in this economy even college graduates are having to work at McDonald's) and a company will choose the stoned loser over someone dressed professionally and educated.

What is wrong with managers and owners today? Why is it they will hire some guy with bracelets that say STONED, but not someone with education and a determination to work. How is it that those of us who will work, be loyal, on-time, and hardworking cannot get a damn job?

What in the world does a hardworking person with a college degree have to do in order to get a freaking job nowadays over the guy who can't even shower for his interview?

You may have indicated that you were demanding an entitlement to a job because of what paper you have. The person who beat you out of a job may have done a better job of selling themself and not depending on a degree that mommy and daddy bought for them.

You seem to be under the impression that you know me. Allow me to assure you that you do not if that is your opinion. I don't believe I am entitled to anything. If you want to find someone who believes they are "entitled" based on a piece of paper...why don't you go looking in the welfare lines for people holding their multiple kids SS cards from their multiple baby daddies. That is where you find entitlement and a "someone owes me something" attitude.

As for the "degree that mommy and daddy bought for me"...LOL boy did you hit it wrong there. My parents didn't buy my degree. I earned it. I sat in those classes, took those tests, wrote those papers, and studied until the wee hours in the morning...while taking care of a husband, children, and working. Oh, and the person that paid the tuition and books every month...that was me too. My parents didn't pay for a thing. I worked for my education, something you clearly can't comprehend.

I don't believe I am entitled to anything. But it is frustrating to try and find work and watch people who don't understand the first thing about basic hygiene and present themselves to the world as druggies get a job. How would you feel is you were let go from your job for some pink haired, pierced, full sleeve tat, forgot to wash their hair 20 year old? It would probably bother you to know you spent your life being professional to be turned out to someone who doesn't know how to spell professional. Unless of course you are that pink haired person. Then I'm sure you will be thrilled to know you will have enough money to party this weekend.

Before you assume you know me...check yourself. At least I had the priviledge of seeing first hand what a company will hire.

I think that managers to places like that think that the stoned loser will be dependant on the job while for someone who can do something better will probably find something better, but really, does that even matter ? I mean, sure, if the college grad does move on, they have to go through the hiring process again a few months later, BUT the work that is done during their employment is probably going to be of a much higher quality than it would be coming from a drop out who hates his job. I have a feeling that our country doesn't care much about quality at that level, that they just have a selfish need to do as little work as possible without losing a paycheck. And in my experience the losers have quite a tendency to move on as well, but without notice. I've worked a lot of shitty minimum wage jobs in my day and I came to realize that the losers DO NOT CARE. They don't understand the reprecussions of just not showing up when they don't feel like it or just walking out of a job they don't feel like doing it.

It has to do with either something in your background check or the fact that the person that you're concerned by his hygene instead of his ability to sell his need to the company person doing the hiring. There has to more to the story than you've stated.
