While I am very impressed with the writings from the students of St. James, I am very disappointed that they think that single gender revolves around separating the genders. While separating the genders is the major component, there are other aspects to single gender. While the students of St. James may disagree with single gender, the majority of South Carolina students who have actually participate in single gender education tend to enjoy the benefits of single gender classes. This survey can be accessed on the State Dept. of Education's website. (The majority of parents and teachers also agreed with single gender education.) Research also points out the different learning styles of single gender. Teachers of single gender use the knowledge of these learning styles to incorporate the most appropriate instructional strategies.
