Make Fort Plain more attractive

Two friends and I have been cleaning the litter off the downtown streets,parking lots,and park for over a year now. We have complained to the village office about some junky looking sights. Nothing seems to improve. We are open to any ideas. Is there anyone on line who kknows about code enforcement and local govts?

yea i see you all the time give it up if you want to clean the side walks and park go for it i think it is great but please leave people alone you will get morehelp and backing if you just leave people alone. alot of the town laugh at you right now

I think these people are doing a great job at trying to spruce up the village. No one else seems to want to do anything to help out. I see nothing wrong with notifying the code enforcement officer when there are violations. Look around you...falling down storefronts,abandoned cars on lawns,buildings falling down,and dog crap all over the street. Obviously a blind eye has been turned for years to these violations and now we have the village in its present state. If you see a violation then report it. How else do you fix the problem?

to loveittomuch: what do you mean by "leave people alone"? There was never an intent to offend or bother someone,unless they were making the town look trashy,of course. Help me out here and thanks for being honest.

There's nothing wrong with the job they're doing tidying up the town. What I can see happening though is the town's rif-raf seeing this and thinking it's ok to litter because they know someone will be around to clean up after them.

We need to get all the trash out of Fort Plain if it's to be a decent place. Moral trash too. Women should get married if they are going to have babies. Welfare is not a husband. Neither is a guy with negro shorts, a wife beater shirt, tattoos and a cigarette hanging from his unemployed lips.

What's wrong with wanting to clean up the village? The trash needs to pick up after themselves, plain and simple. Those hanging in the park have a nice place with trash cans around, just look for them. Maybe the FP police dept should get out of their cars and stop cruising around our wonderful local pub looking for people to harass and walk around the park ticketing those who litter. They probably can't pay fines with their welfare checks but they certainly could be forced to do community service or loose their welfare check because they are in jail and unable to collect.

i think it is great what they are doing...if everyone would do what they are doing the town would look great

Girls there is a big difference in the village "THANKS TO YOU THREE" I have told the woman watering the flowers many times on a sunday morning how nice the flowers look!I hate to say this but I think maybe it's time for a new mayor ,one that can honestly say they don't have a conflict of interest between owning rental units and filling them with unemployed people which only adds to our problem !!!If only we could convince "MAYBE ONE OF YOU FINE LADYS TO RUN FOR OFFICE", no kidding I realy believe one of you should realy consider this as all three of you more than qualify and have what this village needs to turn it around!Village board stand up and take notice of there qualifications and what they have done!
