Good grief. I feel bad for the guys that have to wrestle against her. As soon as the first allegation of "inappropriate" behavior occurs, this will come full circle.

That's from a liberal Dale, so how about not making every thing left vs right?

Hey, nay-sayers, chill-out. This is a high school athlete who works hard and earned an opportunity to compete at the state level. There's no call to be negative about an obviously positive achievement for Ms. Reinsma. Whatever "issues" one may have about girls competing in traditionally male sports, don't heap your generalizations onto the back of this one individual who didn't do anything wrong, unless you consider it wrong to compete and win 32 times in a wrestling season.

So "good job" to her! And I'm sure all the haters out there will have no reservations about spewing their negativity here anyway.

"Protective cap, slam opponent to the mat, slipped to the canvas???" I'm sorry, but this reporter obviously hasn't one ounce of wrestling knowledge, and it's a joke having him write this article. Wrestling may not be the most popular sport, but please assign someone who has at least seen a match. The terminology in this story is embarrassing.

Under title 9 she should be able to hold her own by declaring unequal and unfairness to females, that will give an edge. That aside, I would hope on merit alone many females do come forward and enjoy a sport that is as old as sport itself. On the merrier politics of the game, I am surprised she lost. Certain moves would have our feminists and legal beagles frothing at the mouth to have inappropriate contact rules. Males competitors are placed in a very uncomfortable position. With Saint Biden's new VAWA proposals, she could declare that the opposition looked at her in a menacing manner, a lawyer and judge could be summoned with immediate restraining order and she wins by default. Since the male now has to stay at least 50 feet away from her position to avoid being arrested. She could even do this before the match starts and pull a David Letterman special and state that he telepathically was harassing her. He will never be able to afford the legal fees necessary to fight the order, and will win by default for at least two years.

This is exactly what is wrong with our Society. We have a major media entity, the Pioneer Press, attempt to prop-up an someone who has no business being in a "State Tournament."

Second, the writer, as other folks have posted previosuly, possesses very little knowledge of wrestling. The descriptions used to describe aspects of the match seem a little lacking in in-sight.

Third , the match was one-sided. How is this news. There are hungry, homeless people and we have had Obama just double our Nation Debt - how is this news.

What do you mean "prop-up an someone who has no business being in a "State Tournament." Last I checked in the sport of wrestling you have to beat your opponent to move to the next level. A wrestling with a record of 32-9 definitely deserves to be there. This girl wrestling at the State Tourney has nothing to do with left wingers or right wingers or Obama or the National Debt. It has everything to do with a female wrestler being the first in the state to wrestle in the state tournement. Yes, Tom in the sports world this is news

“it takes a lot to laugh...”

32-9 is pretty impressive. One of my buddies wrestled at 95lbs for two years before his growth spurt caught up to him. With the exception of the heavywieght, these guys would starve themselves to cut weight and wrestle as light as they could. It can be a brutal sport for anybody!!

Why not just create a ladies division and just hand her the State Championship medal? This is embarassing for all parties involved. She has no business in this tournament. Its a circus sideshow at best.

I feel bad for her.

letting a girl wrestle with boys in the state tourney is disgusting...There are some sports that need to stay within gender circles and this is one of them. All these reports and publicity is sickening and I, for one, think it is totally wrong and totally inappropriate.
I am not sexist however I think that females should have their own wrestling teams and tourneys and leave the boys to theirs..same as hockey, baseball/softball and basketball, why is wrestling co- ed when these other sports are not?..how stupid .....

Yep, I called it - haters can't help but hate.

32 wins. That's 32 people who were defeated by this so-called "disgusting" and "inappropriate" athlete. And Danny Boy cracks me up - you say you're not sexist yet your comment is the very pinnacle of sexism: men and women should have separate activities and no direct competition simply because they are of different genders. That's sexism - duh.

Well, haters, thanks for entertaining me for another day. It's good to know you goons spend so much time playing "big man" online, because I'd hate to think of how frustrating it is for you pathetic little losers to sit quietly amongst the rest of us, holding your retarded opinions inside until you're ready to burst, because you KNOW that the majority of our society will correctly label you as an idiot, a goon, and an overall sorry excuse for a human being.

Let me point it out again - you're dumping on a high school kid who has been wrestling for years and made it to the state tournament with a 32-9 record. You're a waste of space, and I know you don't have the balls to say any of your tough words to Ms. Reinsma, her coach, her teammates or her parents.

Now I'm going to resume my daily life and let you jackholes respond to this with your usual moronic, all-caps, tirades. At least that means you're spending more time on your computer and lessens the likelihood that I'll have to suffer your worthless presence in public.

Ciao, knuckleheads.

For that girl to make it to state the wrestling must be pretty pathetic in her district. Her male competition must have been slack-wristed.
