Funny....

The DNR refuses to issue permits to people who train hunting dogs to own a bear....so how did this place get one?

Any bribes to government officials?

And bear hunting of ANY FORM out of season is a crime... it doesn't matter if the bear escaped!

I expect the shelter owner to spend time behind bars the same as any poacher!

Otherwise there is no sense in me following the rules in the DNR hunting and fishing guides anymore.

I can't stand people who think they are ABOVE THE LAW or an "exception" to the rules!

The law is plain and clear.....ENFORCE IT.

All those violations do you really not understand why they failed to report it?

It isn't rocket science, they knew they had animals illegally and they didn't want everyone else to know it too.

I have visited the facility and I feel they owners are doing a great job!! We all make mistakes in the decisions we make. But I feel the good this facility does, totally out weights the bad. It takes a lot of time and care to do what they do for these animals. At least they have the compassion to open their home to take care of all of the animals. We are all human "WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES"

you don't read everything in an article do you? could you post the article you are reading so the rest of us can follow your fuzzy logic. Yes they were wrong for not reporting it right away, yes they were really wrong for lying about it. yes they should lose their permits at least for while, but come on "hunting out of season". What funny farm were you raised on.

one more thing, what about wild animals that come into a town. Like a coyote that attacked a 2 yr old, or a brown bear in seward, Alaska. So according to you, the home owner who kills said animal, because they are attacking them, should be punished because the animal was out of season. I'm tell you what I tell my 8 yr old. Think befor you speak.

If the bear did not hurt anybody then leave them alone, it's not like anyone else is volunteering to take of the animals.

Rod_crys IF? the bear did not hurt anybody? Apparently the bear did hurt people by killing their pets. Only by the grace of God it did not kill a child, or any other person for that matter. So if I throw a live grenade and it doesn't hit anyone or hurt anyone, then that's okay?

I think what these people are doing is ablsolutely great and they just made a bad mistake of judgement that yes could have turned out bad, but it didn't. They have learned their lesson, let them continue to take care of these animal who without them probably would be dead today.

The bears should be taken away from the SPCA if they can't secure them in their inclosures. People could have been hurt. For them to lie about it makes the people that live in the area uneasy to say the least!! We have kids that need to feel safe in their own yards!! Maybe everyone needs to think about that!!
Bears are not toys or cute little animals!

What are you going to do about the 'wild' black bears in your area? They have been in your area for years and will continue to be in the future.

Brenda, Jim, you both have my full support. I hope everything works out well for you guys, you do what nobody else will. Keep in mind, while all these people are criticizing you, none of them have stepped up to protect and help these animals like you guys have....and few help you to help them

Well, this certainly helps explain the mountain lion sightings in Hoffmaster State Park. How many other animals have gotten loose?
