unfortunately they will destroy the bear.
i get tired of hearing this liberal crap about the sky falling and global warming and PETA and save the whales, then when it comes time to put up or shut up, someone freaks out and now the bear is dead.
very nice indeed.

What makes you think the bear will be destroyed? Wait to hear the results before passing judgement. You sound like every other negative thinker in west MI...and there are ALOT of them.

Seems a little strange that the bear was at my house last Thursday nite, how could it only have been out since Saturday? I know it is the same bear, because the SPCCA was here trying to find it then. I glad everything turned out OK. Maybe they need a better containment area for the bear.

Put the people who shot that bear behind bars NOW!

Hunting out of season and without a hunting tag is a crime! Pure and simple....they were "poaching"! Not to mention Muskegon County is off limits to bear hunting during the season.

No execptions! That bear was a danger to no one!

(I suppose they were planning on taking that bear up north and make it someone elses problem.... typical of the Anti-hunting Nazi ASPCA types!)

If there was a problem with the bear... then they should have a hunting season for them in Muskegon County!

And now, teens are able to roam around at night causing problems

Who said anything about the bear being shot? You know something we all don't or is that you assumption? The bear was caught not shot. You may want to read the story again. I hate it when people can't read what is stated and assume they know it all. That is how arguments are started here in the first place. You may want to get your facts straight before assuming the worst of people.
As far as the DNR goes , that is a shame they once again were called about this several times and again did nothing. What does that say for our DNR system?

No, I read the story. My comment was just not clear enough for you. What did they do with the bear? I know they tranquilized it. What did they do with it afterwards? Doesnt the DNR usually decide what to do with animals such as bears? Geesh SOME PEOPLE get all testy first thing in the morning.

Cut the Michigan budget a little more. I guess it hasn't been cut enough yet.

i don't know what an spca shelter is -- so there is my ignorance.

But it doesn't sound to me like the bear was threatening anybody. I think it would be cool to have a bear in the neighborhood. Has anyone ever heard of the UP or Alaska (to name a few)? Bears are often in the neighborhood. Try camping in the national parks -- there are bears. I don't understand the problem. And they better NOT have killed the bear.

spca does not put animals to sleep. they should put it in a semi while it is tranqualized and ship it up to the U.P

The article clearly states a tranquilizer was used!

Do you think anyone was isdiot enough to sneak up on a wild bear with a syringe?(Now that would make a good vid for Youtube....LOL)

I would have used grade b honey and surplus baked goods and either a broadhead or a smokepole!

Good morning Neko!

I so agree! We should let a few more roam around - give the hoodlums something to think about when they're out past their curfew!

You are correct!

I am suprised the DNR hasn't arrested them and consficated the bear!

That action was totally unlawful!(See the DNR website!)

No private animal right group in Michigan is above the law!

They should have let the bear be...and it would have wandered back to the big woods as soon as mating season was over.

Little boy bears get out of the way when the big boys roam!
