And just think I was actually thinking of moving to Muskegon. But after reading some of the news articles and online forums, doesn't sound much better than Detroit, city.
Was thinking Kalamazoo or Muskegon but doesn't sound like they have much to offer, after all.
Kalzmazoo with the kalamazoo promise. Muskegon kind of sounds like there trying to keep it under control. But it needs to be stoped before it becomes a bigger problem drugs, rape, murder give an inch it'll go on for miles.

That's because even hard-nosed gangsters fear skateboarders that use double commas when they type and spell retarded with two "t's". I think that you might BE the crackhead everyone is talking about.

Muskegon is a sewer. It has nothing going for it outside of unemployment. The city itself is older than dirt.

All of the cities on the planet are the same age as dirt. There aren't any "new" cities. The downtown area in any city is going to have some buildings that are very old. I can see that you don't subscribe to a newspaper, listen to the radio, or watch a tv. Otherwise, you would know that EVERYWHERE has high unemployment right now except for the foreign countries that are enjoying our former jobs. It is not a sewer. It's an area filled with many good people who are having a rough time.

See, apparently you have a hard time understanding. No where in my post did I mention the people. I mentioned unemployment thats it. Make sure you are able to understand what your reading before you respond. Further more the city lacks culture an entertainment value. City council thinks those two things mean throwing up some grease an smoked filled bar. That isn't going to help one bit when your trying to attract people from the other side of the lake during the summer. Once people from out of town see Muskegon they see nothing but vacant buildings an a few scattered bars. Thats not going to keep people in the city. They spent millions renovating the downtown an still have nothing in it. Oh, sure you might say its the economy, but you'd be wrong again. Its the lack of know how within city council to know what its going to take to bring all that back again. Muskegon is 10 yrs behind last place. I've been to cities all over the country an none have I seen look like Muskegon. None look as vacant as Muskegon. Their idea of economic stimulas is opening a casino in a state where the economy an jobs are horrible. Now, as for the city I worked for the planning commission for four years. So, don't tell me what the city has to offer. I left there because city council members were probably older than the city itself. They have these antiquated thoughts on whats going to make the city prosper.

I do know what I'm talking about. I grew up here. A city is a refelction of its people and it is not a sewer. You're not going to turn Muskegon into Manhatten overnight, but of coure you would know that because you "left" the city planning commission. I doubt that was by choice, since you cannot keep your own thoughts straight. You just said that "it might be the economy, but you'd be wrong" in the same post where you said that they want to open a casino where "the jobs an economy are horrible." So which is it? The city council or the fact that there isn't any money? People travel from all over the midwest to visit our state parks and attend our summer events. Then they come back again. I cannot "understand what I'm reading before I respond" unless you make it understandable. That's probably why you're not on the planning commission anymore. Don't suppose you're running for city council, are you?

Hey. I left the planning commission by choice not due to someone else's idea. People travel here to see what!! State Parks an Beer tents. Thats all Muskegon has. Besides more vacant buildings than Baghdad. Yes, a Manhatten it will never be. As for city council, I have no interest with the lack of intelligence that already plagues the city. So, you like all the rest just be willing to sit back an let life pass you by without having any say it what happens to the city.

Beer tents. I'm going to have to go ahead and give you that one. I can't defend a place that sells t-shirts that say "I went to a beer tent in musKEGon, MI" and serves booze in a City-owned park.
