It's no wonder that New Mexico ranks on the bottom in educational performance. My kids are smarter than most of their teachers. I attended parent/teacher conferences today, and I had to keep myself from sounding like a Howler Monkey at the sheer stupidity. Is this the best we can do?

We'll you realize, of course, that it's * your* fault NM ranks last among all states in education. That's right. When questioned about the poor production and student performance IN THE CLASSROOM, teachers point their accusatory fingers at parents--lack of parent involvement. In any other profession people's job performances are judged by results, but "educators" refuse to accept any responsibility for poor outcome from their classrooms.
Why is there this disconnect?

Seeing them struggle to write and spell correctly is embarrassing. How can they teach our children concepts and content over which they have no grasp?

Until parents become concerned with what is happening in our schools, it will not improve.

Based on all of these negative comments, do we want to arm teachers to protect out children?

LOL! Of course we don't. That's why they aren't armed.

Guns have no place in a classroom. If that were to happen, over the long haul, we would see more gun incidents from children getting their hands on the weapons than we do now from the infrequent (but tragic) psycho going off his rocker and shooting.

Children are not that well supervised at school simply because of the adult to child ratio.

Guns in the classroom? NO!

Armed guards in the building? Better idea.
