Obama will visit Arcadia

Full story: Highlands Today

A presidential visit is big news anywhere in America, but in a city so small that Friday night football games are still the weekly happening and politicians gather under the Tree of Knowledge, hearing "Hail to the Chief" at a presidential visit is the chance of a lifetime.

I'm very happy that president Obama is visiting Arcadia. It's fine that it's for the Solar Plant, but the big thing is that "HE WILL BE IN OUR LITTLE TOWN" not many towns, cities or states will have had this remarkable, momentous and maybe the only time in history, to have a President to visit the place they may call home. This is one time whether you voted for him or not to have enjoyment for the fact that The Highest Powered Official,to me, came to Arcadia . People be happy because noone else that has this prestige would think of coming to Arcadia let alone to be seen.Everything and everyone else has bypassed Arcadia for one reason or another. If you get the chance to see him be happy because some people never see who they did or did not vote for. If I see him I would like to SHAKE HIS HAND yes i would. So to all this is a chance for me to see the president, I don't know about you but it makes me happy. And if the president's wife wants antiques she definately is in the right town. He will only be here for a short time you will return to your normal life after, but for me, my life will be more energized with excitement.

I agree that is wonderful to have a President of the US to visit my County. I have lived here since '81 and I LOVE my small city. This is a place like I grew up in the late '50s. We have many things for people to see. When you all have time stop & shop in our many different shops. I LOVE to walk downtown and see the old buildings and I always stop and seat under the OLD TREE.
I would NOT move bk to TN! I am HOME!

Today was very eventful for my friends and I who live, work, and grew up in Arcadia, FL. We did not get to shake the President of the United States hand, but he waved and flashed us that great smile on Turner Rd., and on Hyw 17. It was disappointing that more of Desoto County Citizens wouldn't humble themselves to come out to welcome our President. I would like to say, thank you Mr. President for shining a much needed positive light in Arcadia, by gracing us with your present.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Sagittarius

You're in a strange mood, Sagittarius. You're feeling impatient and cross, and nothing is quite right. No wonder, with Mercury and Mars retrograde, under a Full Moon lunar eclipse! But is it necessary to be quite so contrary, so determined to do the opposite of what's expected of you? Try to sort out the problem sooner rather than later, then do something energetic and therapeutic so you can burn off your nervous energy. Then you're all set for a great New Year's Eve!
