i think that just because the little girl saw a nude sculpture that art teacher should not get fired at all because soon the child will know about nudity and see nude things and know about the female and male body so i think they shouldnt have blamed or fired the art teacher it wasnt her fault

I wonder if that art teacher ticked any school administrator off.

That is what they do in Philadelphia. If you upset a school administrator, they make things up against the teacher.

Teachers have little recourse in Philadelphia.

Aren't scuptures supposed to be nude?

Ridiculous...

wow...in my opinion, it was NOT the teachers fault. the class went on a trip to a musam, so yeah..theres bound to be a nude scuplture or painting there, what the student saw was simply art, its not like the little girl saw her teacher having sex or malesting another student right? they shouldnt have fired the teacher over nothing, if theres really any1 to blame its the parents of the little girl, they shoul;d have known wut would be in an art musam, the parents should hav taken responsabilaty for their child

That is LUDICROUS. I went to a private Christian school, and even there we had sex ed in fifth grade, drawings and all. In some schools kids are having sex by fifth grade, probably because they learn about it from other kids instead of their parents, who think they are protecting their children by not talking to them about it! The parents should have spoken with their daughter about the realities of life, instead of blaming someone else. Same goes for the school district - shame on them!

To blame the teacher is absolutey insane. Especially if the report is true that the teacher was urged to take the field trip by the principal. Will the principal loose thier job too? Besides, as an artist myself, isn't the human body considered one of the highest forms of art? It sure isn't porn. I think that teacher should be honored for trying to educate young minds. My 2 cents.

I'm sure the parents who got the teacher fired just bought their kids Grand Theft Auto 4....just shows how messed up this world is becoming.

I'm an art teacher. If this happened to me I'd take it all the way to the Supreme Court. Museums cycle through exhibits all the time. How was she to know a nude statue would be on display? It was an APPROVED field trip. Blame the museum if you just HAVE to blame someone...they are the ones hosting children on the tours.

Sounds like she was too good for that school anyways.

This is ridiculous and unfair. Why couldn't the principal stand up for the teacher especially since it was approved by him / her. Museums are not rated "R" and therefore the parent needs to sit back and chill. Unfortunately the school is going to miss out on a very talented teacher and the ones who lose the most in this case are the students. Way to go uptight mom or dad!

That the problem with most of the School systems and why are childern are learning from MTV,BET and all the TV shows.A Art Teacher that has taught childern for 28 years,is let go for a childern seeing Naked Art! I wonder if the School Board get dress in the Dark! That is why Soldier like me will not join the Troop to Teachers program, because I might lose my job because one of my students might get me Fired for teaching them about Mlitary life and what I have done.

This is stupid. If that's the case, TV execs should lose their jobs too for airing nudity and inappropriate language that's viewed by children.

Since she's an award-winning art teacher, her colleagues were most likely jealous of her.

U said it... >,< Approved was the right word for all this, i hope that art teacher used that and how the art musem was sure to have that sort of thing. Its insane for a kid to throw a fit and blaime the teacher. The teacher was doing His/her job and the kid was giving a piss poor excuse.

If the parent's signed the permission slips for the approved field trip, then THEY were responsible for their child seeing the nude sculpture. Everyone with a brain knows that museums have nude sculptures and paintings, and that anyone walking through the museum may see such nude art. If the parents wanted to protect their child from such exposure, then they should have kept their child out of the group. This teacher did NOTHING wrong and should not lose her job over this. At least she is still being paid through the end of her contract, and after 28 years of teaching I hope that she will still get a pension from the district.

Nudity does not equal sex.
What an outrage.
