My fiancÚ has lived here on and off for years and loves it. I am from a small town in ohio. I am a sonographer and they say the ultrasound job demand here is high. So I am thinking of relocating here to find a more full time job. Just need to know what it's like? I'm honestly scared! I have heard pretty horrible things. But my main concern is the rate of illegal immigrants and non English speaking families. For my child, who has been going to spech therapy for a about a year, and if I go to a place where they are mainly speaking Spanish he will be so confused!!! I am not racist by no means. But I am very scared is it going to be like moving to a foreign country?!?? What is the traffic and heat like? Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated! As well as apartment recommendations would be very helpful! Anything you feel i shoukd know or what you wish you knew before moving here. Thank you for your time!

The schools are very good and there's plenty of help for children who need speech therapy. Sure there are a number of Hispanic people in the area and everyone I've encountered has been very nice. I speak no Spanish and everyone I've encountered speaks English. So many of the immigrants receive a bad rap and the building trades would suffer greatly if they weren't here. Houston traffic is bad but one can work at any number of locations nearby to League City and never need to drive into Houston. Brand new apartments are constantly being built in the area. You should have no problem finding a great one. Won't kid you though...it's very warm here in the summer but the winters are pretty mild. The Houston museums and the zoo are awesome.

Thank you so much for your response! I really wasn't trying to sound mean but it will be a different world to me and it is a very big decision having never been there and not being the type of person to just pick up and move! I worried with my job though as well bc I am not bilingual and only know some Spanish. I do enjoy the heat but I just want a better life than here and it is scary moving 20 hours across the United States not knowing anything about the place but what the Internet entails lol. Which is not very comforting at all

I'm more scared that you're a liberal therefore bringing your liberal mindset here.

Hun believe it or not I've encountered that the Spanish speaking people here are pretty racist, not all but some. You did not come across as racist and I do believe you stressed that. Forgive people here trying to start fights! All texans aren't bad!!!:-)

I live here and have my whole life!! I can't Stabd some of the immigrants though. They have like 10 kids in a little apartment! How can you watch and control so many kids??? You can't that's why they run amuck and throw rocks at your car. The Mexican woman are the worst! They are so jealous of American woman!!! I have never seen anything like it before! Get a job, quit having so many kids and make your own self feel better!!!
