Modern-day hero is all I can say. Put aside everything you may know or think you know about Bill Garrett and remember that this man took an oath to protect and serve. Being in the presence of a stranger waving a loaded gun around and having no idea what that person is capable of results in the kind of fear and desperation that most of us will never experience. The reaction that is warranted by a person in that moment of desperation--the moment they realize their next move determines whether they live or die--is a true testament of character. This is the moment that defines you. You can never know which person you will be until the moment is over. It is a moment in which adrenaline takes over mind and body and you are left with instinct. The person underneath it all is the person who makes a CHOICE without the time or ability to weigh the outcome. It is the prospect of "do or die" in its truest form. Bill Garrett made a split-second decision to save a life, at the expense of possibly his own. This man took a bullet at point blank range because at that moment the value of another human life was worth more than his own. Say whatever you will about Bill Garrett, but know that if that had been you, your child, your wife or mother in that store that night, he would have taken that bullet just as honorably and selflessly as he did for those who were actually there. Those he vowed to protect at any and all cost, and nearly did cost him all. Thank you Bill for what you have done for human regard. You are truly one in a million. God bless you and your family. Your integrity and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten.

Bill you are a hero in every aspect of the term. You and your family are in our hopes and prayers. We pray for your speedy recovery. My God have mercy on the scumbag SOBs that did it, because none of the rest of us will.

Okay Friendship, it's time to lock and load! Our small little town is being overrun by pathetic lowlifes that have had no raising, have no morals and no respect for anybody, much less themselves. We are falling victim to home evasions and robberies by worthless individuals that think it's better to steal from somebody else, than to work and earn their own. Remember when you could leave stuff in your yard and not worry about someone stealing it?? Wow, those days are long gone. It's not even safe to go to the Dollar Store or just to simply lock your doors. Now you need 3 pitbulls and a loaded gun. I urge you to take a stand, look around your neighborhood, if you see something that isn't right, call the Sheriff's dept, when enough of us call they will have no choice but to do something about it.
